This just in: College kids drink Kool-aid says Governor Rendell
Appearing with a group of college students on Fox News over yesterday, Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell said that a lot of young people "drink the Kool-Aid" of Obama's speeches, prompting the reporter to say "you're suggesting that they're being suckered."

Watch Rendell talk about how youth are responding to Obama, and watch some of the students push back:

1. Wow. He actually SAID "drinking the kool aide".
I'm glad those kids spoke out.

And if what Rendell says is true, this 52 year old has also "drunk the Kool aide".

Sheesh.

2. Hey Seattlegirl
I'm with you, except I'm an Obama Coke-Cola drinker. I need caffeine!

3. Then the question becomes, do you drink American Coca-Cola, or
Mexican Coca-Cola (made with REAL sugar)?

4. Exit polls confirm that Obama voters are more educated
One could respond to the governor by saying that Hillary voters are just Establishment voters who vote for who they are told to vote for by their Democratic governor, mayor and union boss.

One could say that, but I'm not going to say that.

10. Are you saying this because Obama voters have more college???
Because in my life, I've found people without a college education to be incredibly independent minded and quite vocal about it.
Most of the non-college educated are probably just as likely to not follow the crowd as college educated people are.

Oh...and if you're using college educated as your standard for independent minded people...people with university education are more likely to vote republikkan.

Surveys have been posted here at DU for the last few months showing that statistic.

5. As a college kid
and English major at a fairly prestigious liberal arts college, allow me to delve into my extensive college-level vocabulary to express my thoughts on the governor's comments.

Ahem.

GO FUCK YOURSELF ED RENDELL!

I'm sorry, but this pisses me off. This is just like the people I've heard that say if the youth demographic "doesn't know what's best for this country" (read as: don't support my candidate) then they should raise the voting age. Stuff like this is the only thing in the campaign that really infuriates me.

11. It's worse than "being suckered"
"Drinking the Kool-aid" is a reference to being part of a doomsday suicide cult.

Yeah, we say it on DU, but a Governor has NO business saying this crap on TV about an entire demographic group that happens to not support his candidate.

I am SICK of the hateful reverse ageist bigotry coming from the Clinton camp.

12. And Rendell knows nothing of history. I'm tired of people who
know very little running things. It was Flavor Aid at Jonestown, not Kool-Aid.

15. Versus drinking Hillary's Kool-aid?
I would hope people in a circumscribed environment that regularly questions everything would be skeptical of ANY politician.

17. Rendell, you smug idiot
For all your intelligence, you still don't realize that the last way you convince young people to see your side of things is to insult them when they don't.

18. What's That Prove...
Edited on Tue Apr-22-08 06:57 AM by Butch350
I've talked to adults who have NO IDEA of any legislation associated with HRC's - they're only voting based solely on name
recognition - they seem to think they're getting Bill back with a vote for Hillary.

Now those are the kool-laid drinkers.
