Obama predicts Clinton win in Pennsylvania
SCRANTON, Pa. - Barack Obama predicted Monday that Democratic presidential rival Hillary Rodham Clinton would get the critical victory she needs in Tuesday's Pennsylvania primary, but said his goal is to keep it close.

"I'm not predicting a win," he told Pittsburgh radio station KDKA. "I'm predicting it's going to be close and that we are going to do a lot better than people expect."

Clinton aides tried to downplay expectations, insisting they would be grateful for a single-digit win. While the New York senator began the race with a hefty 20-point lead in several polls in the state, Obama's extensive campaigning and heavy ad buy have significantly cut into Clinton's lead.

She told supporters in Scranton, "We really need to bear down in these last few days. The whole world is watching."

1. close and better than expected would be viewed by the media as a Clinton loss
because she has been the overwhelming favorite.

3. I like his phrasing
They must be seeing some good numbers for him to make a statement like that.

5. Obama will lose. Clinton will not win.
She's down from over 20% there less than six months ago.

6. While the New York senator began the race with a hefty 20-point lead in several polls in the state
This is a state that is Whiter, Older and more female than the rest of the Country. Yet Hillary couldn't even hold on to her 20 point lead.

7. Misleading Headline
I realize that the headline is from the link, but that said, when Obama says "I'm not predicting a win", he is not necessarily predicting a Clinton win either.
Silly Pickler.

8. It doesn't matter much either way. It's so close that at best she'll pick
up 10 delegates. Obama will still have a 150 delegate lead and will be that much closer to capturing the majority of pledged delegates. There are 50 states and a couple of territories, and all the ex-pats and she wants us to believe that the primary is decided by whatever big state she won last. Pathetic.

10. Hopefully people will realize....
That as long as she doesn't get the average that she needed in the remaining states back from March 4th when she won, she's going to have to do even BETTER in the ever dwindling number of states to catch up (because there would be less delegates available)

12. He is overspending in PA. against Hillary 5 to 1 with ad buys etc., that's some
pretty substantial cash he is plunking down and still can not take it away from her. Somehow, it doesn't bode well for other states following PA.

15. Which is correct, given the nature of PA....
http://www.boomantribune.com/story/2008/4/21/10827/5540

"Looking at the internals of the Quinnipiac Poll out this morning (Clinton 51%, Obama 44%) I'm seeing the one thing that I feared. Obama is set to win this state, but what's standing in his way is overwhelming resistance in the Northeast and the Southwest.

Allegheny (Pittsburgh): Clinton 50%, Obama 44%
Philadelphia: Obama 54%, Clinton 41%
Northeast (Scranton): Clinton 69%, Obama 29%
Southeast (Philly Burbs): Obama 50%, Clinton 46%
Northwest (Erie): Clinton 52%, Obama 43%
Southwest: Clinton 68%, Obama 26%
Central (State College): Obama 50%, Clinton 44%"

Shorter Booman: Hicks are racist.

19. I predicted a 7-12% win for Hillary. I still think that's in the ballpark.
It's not as close as she needs and will put serious pressure on her in Indiana. Considering her finances she's facing a hell of a battle in winning the numbers she needs to convince the superdelegates.
