OBAMA: I'm trying to show some restraint
Obama decries 'gotcha' politics

"If the Republicans come at me, I will come right back at them, and I will come at them hard," he said.

"I'll be honest with you. It's a little harder to do with a fellow Democrat, because I'm trying to show some restraint. I won't have as much restraint with the Republicans."

He needs to be tough. I'm glad he realizes that. Like him, I am sick of GOTCHA politics.

hope Obama loses in Nov. Obama is too smart to fall for that.

Obama bragging that he'll show some muscle to the Republicans is like a poodle trying to stand up to the pit bulls.

He'd buckle like a belt, which is why he is the wrong choice for the nomination.

24. And that's a perfect example
of why Hillary is losing and can't possibly win. Neither she nor her supporters are half as interested in telling us why we should like her as they are interested in tearing down the other candidate. The one in their own party, the one who is the odds on favorite for the nomination at this point.

A number of years ago I remember a couple who preached against the politics of personal destruction and told us about hope, he was from hope and played that to a tee. The same guy was quoted a few years later telling us that if one side preaches hope and the other fear, vote hope. Remember that couple?

Now I see a depressing couple who have so totally lost track of what's important that they'll sell their own reputations and the party itself down the road for personal gain and I'm honestly having trouble telling the difference between some of her suppoters and Bush's 30%. They once campaigned hard on "it's the economy, stupid" and were amazed that the repubs didn't get that message. They were still able to adapt and change then, but now they are convinced they know it all and refuse to adapt or to change, or to realize that the nation is changing under them rather they like it or not.

"It's change, stupid". That's been the message the whole way along in this campaign and she's still running 90's style politics with a touch of neocon scorched earth thrown in for balance. Obama didn't beat her, she and her supporters beat themselves. All she had to do to win was to get the message from the public and to campaign as if she understood it. We want change, and we're tired of politics as usual, including the constant distractions, personality issues, and personal attacks which have no bearing on ANY real issue. All Obama had to do to win with them acting like that was to be there, in the context of this campaign he is the better candidate and does seem to listen. And yeah, he will win for it. The primary at least. I have my doubts about the general but I know after the last few months she can't win. Doesn't stand even a chance. He at least has a chance.

7. What the Obama doubters don't realize: He isn't slamming Hillary because he doesn't want to
alienate her base. It is smart politics.

Hillary, meanwhile, is doing everything possible to turn off Obama's base in the unlikely case she wins the nomination. This is one of the many reasons she is a weaker candidate.

20. Also he has to avoid personally helping her be the victim...
The tears in New Hampshire and the debate where Edwards and Obama were accused of ganging up on her gained her "sympathy" votes.

Against John McCain, those constraints will be removed--and it will be a fair fight...

And no I'm not a misogynist....

Edited on Thu Apr-17-08 03:27 PM by John Q. Citizen
is already assasinated and it's only been since January that the race began.

Obama has completely destroyed Hillary's chances for public office ever again, and he did it in less than three months. And he did it without leaving any finger prints.

Obama is obviously the better politician, and it's a good thing Hill is all but out of the race, beaue the Repos would have been no less capable.

Hill doesn't have the ability to withstand the kind of onslaught Obama has brought to bear. She says she's a fighter, but it's just words.

So yeah, I agree with you.

Poor Hillary! She just didn't know what she was getting into. I think she's probably too nice of person to be elected president. Kind of like Kucinich.

50. That's the problem though don't ya know
Attacking left and right and being willing to sling shit as far as the eye can see is what makes one Presidential. It shows strength and readiness to go from day one. Hillarys willingness to go to any lengths to win is why we should kick Obama out and coronate her. She has proven herself the better fighter.

What would Obama do if some foreign leader gets snippy"? Something silly like call it what it is and ignore it? Hah what a little wimp. Hillary would start a counter smear campaign and accuse the foreign leader of being a pedophile. Just proves she is better qualified and experienced.

You could tell that he didn't want to go after her. I think he has put party before presidency because they know more about Clinton than they are willing to drag on stage. He apologized for the bitter comment though he knew it was trumped up. He wouldn't go after her on many of the issues that the GOP would have a field day on...

But

MCCain is a different story. He will be able to go after John McCain so that Bush doesn't get another term in the white house. People are under-estimating how much dirt is up under McCain's hood. Obama is going to expose McCain for the weak minded war architect that he is.
