I donated to the Obama campaign for the first time today.

As many of you know, Obama was not my first choice. Further, I was disturbed by his pandering to homophobes in South Carolina. At least he has not repeated that mistake, and his website contains strongly supportive language for gay rights.

Obama has run a very good campaign - a remarkable campaign. He is a good politician. He is a good speaker, and he deals with issues quickly. His campaign has not made the same mistakes that some previous Democratic campaigns for president have made. I feel that Obama has the momentum to carry his campaign to the White House.

We absolutely must have a Democrat in the White House. We must have a presidential candidate with the momentum to sweep many more Democrats into the House and Senate, and many more Democrats into state positions. We must drive the Republicans from power and break the stranglehold that they have on our country in collusion with the corporations.

We must stop this war and spend our resources on healthcare and environmental protections. We are in crisis. There is no time to lose.

Obama can win. I believe that Obama will win. He has my support. I hope that others will join me in sending money to his campaign, voting for him in the remaining primaries and in November, and supporting his campaign in all ways.

7. It was last night's "debate" that was the final encouragement for me today.

The stupid flap about people in small towns helped, too. I'm from a tiny town in Ohio and I agree with everything Obama said about that. I suspect that most of my former neighbors do too. The only ones who don't weren't going to vote Democratic anyway (and even some of them probably secretly agree with Obama).

I think last nite was more of a response of Obama's promise to seriously investigate wrong doing once he's elected, one thing this crowd does not want to hear about is accountability. It's like the Goopers in the House that voted down a bill to provide funding for States that wanted to verify elections in 2008. The last thing the Republican Party wants is honest elections. One for me, one for me, one for me, oh, gosh, none for you! Here we are in the land of the free and all the electronic votes are a vote for me, you can pay all the taxes while the rich ride for free, just remember that no matter what button you press, every vote is a vote

Obama's one of the few politicians that I actually like and respect and admire. He's a rarity in politics - a truly decent human being that is kind and classy enough to eschew the usual Washington backbiting, but has what it takes to make the sale and win elections.
