Letter sent to the idiots at ABC:
What a farce!
Our country is involved in 2 wars and Bush is salivating over starting a 3rd.
People are losing not just their jobs but their homes as well.
Health care is unaffordable and forcing people into bankruptcy.
Torture is being committed and condoned, illegally, by people in the White House.
We are being spied on, illegally, by our own government.
There's the issue of retroactive telecom immunity still hanging in the air.
Our civil liberties are hanging in shreds...

And your two commentators chose to ask: Does your pastor love America
as much as you do?
What??
Your commentators chose to talk about wearing a tin flag pin, instead of other ways of *truly* honoring
this country - like following the word and the spirit of our Constitution which is being desecrated on a daily
basis by the current Administration.

Worst debate ever. An embarassment and an insult to any voter who was hoping to glean some insight
into the views held by these two candidates.

Next time, instead of watching a "debate" on ABC, I'll just go to the supermarket and pick up a copy
of whatever tabloid trash is on the stands.

3. I had to go through it, line by line, and take out all the name-calling and cursing,
which watered it down considerably.

8. Thank you. I'm still smoldering from that concentrated attack they waged against
Obama - which, let's be honest, is exactly what it was.
There was not even a false facade of fairness!
Even in a hard-hitting debate, the snarky questions are usually interspersed with less controversial ones.
Not last night.
The questions were designed to bring up old inconsequential issues that had already been dealt with, and to re-hash them
in front of millions of viewers, just in case (God forbid) they forgot one or two of these non-issues.

I don't know how Obama kept from lashing out and losing his cool.
I sure would've.

2. Excellent letter!
You covered the important points.

I sent this one to Chas. Gibson:

Worst "debate" I've ever seen. Where were the issues? Why no questions about Iraq war? Healthcare? The economy? Erosion of civil rights? Climate change?

Pretty bad. No wonder ignorance plagues the land.

Name

I hope the shills at "Another Bullshit Corporation" get the message.

7. Thanks for this list...
Just sent this to Peter Salinger:

Mr. Salinger:

I have been a political activist for almost 30 years and I have watched many debates during that time, from national debates to local election debates, and never have I seen a more despicable performance by moderators than I saw last night. ABC had the opportunity to raise the bar here and actually discuss the issues with the candidates. Instead, you choose to be petty, abrasive, argumentative (Gibson took the capital gains issue personally, didn't he), I dare say, "tabloidish". The need to quote the Constitution to the public speaks of condescension on your part for your viewers ability to understand what is at stake here. Gotcha journalism is not something to be proud of; however, you took it to extreme and proved there was nothing to be proud about. The fact that Stephanopoulos was influenced by a biased right wing pundit to ask a question of Senator Obama just shows the very serious lack of ability on ABC's part to grasp what the public really wanted and needs to hear. In case you still haven't figured that out, we need to know what are these candidates going to do to solve the serious issues facing this country. Yet the debate was almost an hour old before anything of substance was asked.

I am certain had Peter Jennings still been alive this debacle would never have occurred. The reputation of ABC News was seriously damaged last night and I, for one, will never watch coverage by ABC of any news event again . Come of think of it, I don't watch any ABC shows at all. I suppose the entire network is in trouble, especially since Wolf Blizer is beginning to look like Edward R. Murrow in comparison. That is sad.

ABC News owes an apology to the citizens of this country for failing to provide the true journalism we deserve.

16. Well said.
It's hard for me to imagine why anyone would defend this crap. Isn't it time that we all stood together to take back our "free press?"

In what totalitarian dream state is this remotely like what the founders of this nation had in mind when they wrote the Bill of Rights?

17. After endless instances of repeating her bogus Bosnia story, she finally admits
that she said something she knew not to be true - and those two jokers who call themselves commentators
DON'T JUMP ON THAT and say, "Oh, so you're admitting that you LIED?"

What tripe! It's just beyond me why those two guys have jobs.

It took a tire jack to get my jaw off the floor, last night. I finally took to watching George to make sure he didn't take a tumble...he was so eager to make a score on Obama.

That debate was cruel and inhuman treatment. I could picture Obama as a little boy, pleading to his accusers that he did not do it...didn't break it...whatever the accusation of the day.

His ability to stand there and take it with grace was more than most of us could have done. That wasn't a debate, it was a frat initiation!

19. It was a failed assassination attempt.
And Hillary loved every minute of it, adding her own little zingers just to pile on.

I remembered how, during one of the debates when all the other candidates were still in the running, it seemed that Hillary
was getting picked on - and Gov. Richardson ("Judas") came to her defense. What a gracious thing for him to do.

One thing Hillary can never be accused of being is 'gracious.'
I don't event think she knows what the word means.

24. You don't have to wait till Tues. to know that Gibson and Snuffleupaguss are shills.
Did they ask what the candidates think about torture?
No, they asked Obama "Does your pastor love America as much as you do?"
If he says "Yes,"

Have you stopped beating your wife??

27. Yeah. And with all ABC's grandiose quotes they displayed onscreen before each segment, wouldn't you
expect them to ask at least one question about the Constitution, and how the candidates plan
to re-instate it after Bush has ripped it to shreds?
