Concerning whom they wish to face in the general election, Republicans
say, "We always lie."

Should we take them at their word or not?

5. thats been their reaction thus far
but I don't think they much care.

for what its worth in the polls, its a statistical dead heat among the top 5 or 6.

they have the goods to pillory all but Edwards and Lieberman to some extent.

they are "cautiously optimistic" and are doing a pretty good job of starting to whip the faithful into a froth. they know that a serious effort will be required.

6. Agree.
The US today is like the USSR of old, you need to be a specialist to decode "the party" BS (in this case it is republican party BS --- if you can tell the difference). Some "party" claims are just plain old lies but others are wishful thinking. There may be a third category --- but I haven't found it.

The wishful thinking is that Dean is going to win the nomination. The lying part is that Dean will be a tough opponent.

18. And as rumor has it.
--- Encouraging contributions to his campaign.

I realize that this is a vile accusation but it would match the republican style --- Real-Politik towards the election process --- Real-Stupid towards everything else.

20. Re: Well, let's see...
In my opinion...

The republicans probably figure that Dean's gone too far left in the public's mind (to win the nomination) that he'll never be able to get back to where he belongs and I'm sure they're counting on the added bonus will be that they will be able to paint him out as weak on foreign affairs.

Lieberman would probably be too tough for them because they would have so few areas where they disagree.

To me those choices are bush-lite 1 & 2.

I think the republicans and the press are underestimating the Democrats and when we have a nominee, whomever he or she will be, we will band together to beat bush. Shoot, we could run a dead person and I'd vote for that person over bush (and I bet they'd do a better job, too)

7. The Republicans are liars
Clarence Page, just said on Capial Report, that Wes Clark is Bush's worst nightmare. Page also said he would give anything to see a Bush/Clark debate.

Go Wes!

8. Today, a republican flack said he wants to see a "clark vs Bush " debate
Edited on Fri Jan-02-04 10:23 PM by Capn Sunshine
With Alan Murray tonite on Capital Report. So that's the word today. They are lying when the say they want Dean, but not lying when they say they want to face Clark.

THAT is how sneaky these bastards are

11. Clarence Page
is a center/left journalist & he was debating Susan Molinari, a Republican. And Alan Murray wasn't even there. Gloria Borger was hosting.

17. The only question left
was it a lie designed to masqy=uerade as truth ? An enigma wrapped in a mystery inside a jelly donut? Was it the truth designed to look like a lie, but its really true,or was it an outright lie designed to be taken as a lie or was it a halftruth cloaked in innuendo 'cause you know .....

15. If Democrats would stop giving a fuck what Republicans want
and concentrate on what Democrats want, the Party would be miles further than it is today.

Now I don't mean to get off on a rant, but stay with me here.

That's how the pink tutu label came about. Some Democrats actually decided, "oh woe is me, the Republicans will label me a <waffler, liar, liberal, ant-flag, anti-God, blah blah blah, take your pick> if I do this thing that Democrats would really like me to do."

Fuck that noise.

This is why the fuck I am for Dean. He speaks his mind and could give a flying fuck what the hell the Republicans have to say about it. Of course they will lie. Of course they will try to take over the debate. Of course they will just plain make shit up. Hell, Clark is beginning see that no matter what the fuck you say the Republicans will run you down for it so he's taken the "Fuck off you Republican jackoffs" tactic and is speaking his mind which impresses the fuck out of me because I wasn't sure he had it in him after his faltering out of the starting gate.

They're fucking Republicans! They can't help it. They were stuck with the greedy ass, snotnosed, "I could give a fuck about anybody else so long as I've got mine", mouthbreathing, braindead, asshole, jerkoff gene that unfortunately approximately 50% of our backwards assed barbarian unintelligent species has running around the genepool to this day.

Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

26. Hoo Rah!
This needs to be said and said again until it sinks in like a thick axe to the head.

Most of us at DU have managed to avoid their brainwashing techniques so far. I'm not lining up for the R-bot implant today, tyvm.

If so many are worried about what the Rs think, I suggest rubbing the magic bottle and asking Jeanie.
