...IMO, it's a sad event when a poster gets evicted because it means that, for whatever reasons, the poster couldn't learn, even with the help of moderators, to function in this community.

Any group is a sum and function of its members. If one is removed, it changes--even if slightly--the dyanmics of the entire group.

Even the worst asshat...yes, they were an asshat, but they were OUR asshat, and part of our group.

I think to evict someone because of the way they phrase their opinions is especially dangerous. When we start censoring in that manner, it is a slippery slope between Bush Jr's "There are too many freedoms" mentality.

I say, "Let diversity live!," even the diversity that irritates the hell out of us.

had absolutely no history that I'm aware of, of any behavior that was TSable and I posted with her and talked to her frequently. If this was a planned and targeted 'hit', I think it needs to be looked into. I have an entire email full of horrendous, loathesome personal attacks from just ONE prominent HRC supporter and to my knowledge, this person has never even been suspended. So this makes no sense.

(Note the mod messages on all the new tombstones about zombies and so on)...it may have been something as simple as creating a second account. The antennae are up big time for that and even if it wasn't malicious, a slip-up where the mods caught it probably prompted the final “pizza delivery”. I can't recall her saying anything that would prompt mass alerts. She could sometimes be a bit puerile, but there was nothing that would cause a so-called “swarm” as is being posited by the martyrs/griefers who are pushing it.

Creepy PMs'll do it too. So perhaps we'll never know. The mods are pretty good about this sort of thing so I trust their judgement.

If you are so concerned about the level of discourse on DU, why don't you start by changing your sig line.

First of all, you compare supporting with Obama with having a mental illness. That's childish.

Worse, though, it mocks the issue of mental health and plays into the stereotypes about these conditions. Far too many Americans fail to receive proper treatment for mental health conditions because of the stigma. When you mockingly post something like this, and portray mental health care as something to be riddiculed and laughed at, you are setting the cause of treatment and empowerment back by at least a decade. All of the hard work performed by Paul Wellstone and others to ensure that mental health is a national priority gets flushed down the drain when you engage in these idiotic antics.

Must have been some stuff going on in PM's that we don't know about. They really don't TS someone lightly. Also when they give someone a warning it's private, nobody else gets to see it. I'll miss the cute picture, but not much else. She was kind of a sockpuppet and didn't contribute much of value anyway.
