A Bill Clinton Endorsement - helps or hurts candidate?

He endorsed a Republican for the mayor's race in San Francisco. Al Gore endorsed this same person...this same person contributed money to Gore's opponent in 2000.

and his opponent was a Green. Maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't think there was a Repub running.

May hurt some in gen election as a rally cry for neo cons but I think they will be up in arms to vote for Bush no matter what.

He's not popular among moderate Republicans and a lot of swing voters. An endorsement by Clinton could stand to really hurt in the general election for that reason. Whoever gets the nomination should enlist his help campaigning, but not expect him to be some kind of savior or boost with swing voters.

Do you have evidence of that or is it your guess? I'm not saying one way or the other. I'm just curious about where you get your info. :)
