Retired Gen. Wesley Clark holds a town hall meeting Thursday in West Lafayette, Ind., as he campaigns for presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y. at American Legion Post 492. Clark is making several stops across Indiana trying to boost Clinton's campaign ahead of the state's May 6 primary election

Retired U.S. Army General Wesley Clark said the U.S. troop surge in Iraq was a political strategy to help President George W. Bush "avoid embarrassment."

He said the surge has stalled any attempt to seek a resolution to the ongoing war.

"The surge was presented to the American people on a false premise," said Clark, traveling Friday in Indiana in support of the Hillary Clinton for President campaign.

……….

Clark stumped for Clinton in Lafayette, Indianapolis and Jeffersonville on Thursday and spoke by phone while traveling by car to Scottsburg on Friday.

He said the majority of Americans did not want the present administration "to stay the course in Iraq."

"We're not fixing the problem," he said. "We're spending $100 billion a year and we've lost thousands of Americans dead there and we haven't succeeded. Despite the valor and great sacrifice of our men and women in uniform, we have not succeeded in Iraq."

Clark had a distinguished career during his 34 years in the Army and the Department of Defense. He was valedictorian of his class at West Point and awarded a Rhodes scholarship to the University of Oxford, where he obtained a degree in PPE (philosophy, politics and economics).

He is a Vietnam veteran of two tours, including one where he commanded an infantry unit, and received a Bronze Star, Silver Star and Purple Heart. He also served as Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO and directed NATO forces during its confrontation with the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in the Kosovo War.

……..
He said Hillary Clinton should be the next president.
…………..

He said the U.S. and its allies in the Middle East need "a regional strategy that incorporates talks with Iran and Syria as well as our friends in the region.

"We need to create a regional security architecture in which Iran is drawn into more positive talks with its neighbors," Clark said. "And you have to begin the withdrawal of American forces. You cannot have a permanent occupation

25. I don't see an
Obama-Clarke ticket. Although Clarke would find it very hard to turn down the offer.

6. That would make voting for Sen. Clinton a LOT less barfy....
....seriously. I've said I'd vote for Sen. Clinton if she was the nominee, but I'd throw up before and after.

The only two times in my life I've donated money for a presidential campaign was for Gen. Clark and now for Sen. Obama.

Obama-Clark 08 would be a dream ticket for a LOT of people

8. When Gen. Clark endorsed Sen. Clinton....
I gave her a serious second and third look. And decided I couldn't vote for her in the primaries despite my respect for Gen. Clark.

And I suspect that Gen. Clark could get behind Sen. Obama quite easily if he was the nominee. His loyalty is to the United States and what is best for this country, not any one person.

10. Clark's a good guy
He'll be out there for Obama if he's the nominee. Perfect choice for VP too. When we win this we need a major Clinton supporter as the VP to start to heal the wounds of the campaign.

Vets for Hillary are on a month-long, 37-city tour across PA:

March 25, 2008
Vets Tour PA For HRC

PHILADELPHIA, PA - 'Veterans for Hillary' will kick-off a 37-city, month-long tour across PA with three stops in Philly today. Fmr Dep. Asst. Secretary of the Navy William Cassidy will begin the tour with stops at the Delaware Valley Veterans Home and the Penrose and Melrose Diners.

During the tour, 'Veterans for Hillary' members, including retired military personnel who served at the highest levels of the military as well as veterans returning from the front lines in Iraq and Afghanistan, will visit veterans' health facilities and hold public conversations about veterans' issues in communities across the state. Tour participants aim to inform Pennsylvanians about Clinton's record of support for veterans and to assess conditions at Pennsylvania's veterans' facilities.

"When it comes to serving our veterans, Hillary Clinton does not only talk about how much she appreciates their sacrifice - she follows through with real support," Cassidy said. "Thanks to her efforts, the nearly 20,000 members of the Pennsylvania National Guard now have access to federal health benefits and hundreds of thousands of military personnel are now screened for traumatic brain injury. She has had a real impact on the lives of the men and women in our armed forces, and she will continue to fight for them as President."

SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton says Barack Obama hasn't owned up to his comments about bitter voters in small towns.

Clinton, who knocked on doors Sunday in her father's boyhood hometown of Scranton, Pa., says people want an explantion from her rival.

Obama has been on the defensive for saying economically frustrated people in small towns get bitter and "cling to guns or religion" to explain their feelings. Obama later said he regretted offending anyone.

Clinton and other Democrats have expressed concern that Obama's comments make the party look out of touch.

Clinton was campaigning in Scranton to emphasize her middle-class roots. While there, she also planned to visit the grave of her father, Hugh Rodham.

21. The press is watching...security
They make you go through medal detectors and dogs when you go to see either one of them at any event. Do you really think they let them knock on strangers doors without checking them out.

Did she meet one Obama supporter? Even in the most pro-hillary neighborhoods there is always going to be an Obama supporter.

I think its great when they go out and meet people and I myself would think it would be stupid and a huge security risk to send them out to a house that had not been checked out. I wouldn't want anything to happen to either one of them.

to put all those 'supporters' up in hotels and feed them.

Clark is another member of the Arkansas Mafia.
