Gotta love how the plot thickens by the day. This campaign is starting to make the Bush administration look good.

I hope Hillary comes up with some ZINGERS this week, she's a couple weeks behind in the "truth in campaigning" race.

Maybe she can explain how Mark Penn was AGAINST the Columbia deal before he was working for them?

53. hilary's got a Tuzla of a
nerve lying that she spoke out against the War On Iraq before Obama did.

"HILLARY: NO REGRET ON IRAQ VOTE

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said she is not sorry she voted for a resolution authorizing President Bush to take military action in Iraq despite the recent problems there but she does regret "the way the president used the authority."

"How could they have been so poorly prepared for the aftermath of the toppling of Saddam Hussein?" the New York Democrat asked Tuesday night on CNN's "Larry King Live."

"I don't understand how they had such an unrealistic view of what was going to happen."

April has become the deadliest month for U.S. forces in Iraq since the war began more than a year ago. The U.S.-led coalition faces insurrections on several fronts, including the Sunni Muslim stronghold of Fallujah, west of Baghdad, and the militia of a Shiite Muslim cleric in Najaf in the south.

To the disappointment of some antiwar liberals in her Democratic base, Clinton, the former first lady, voted in favor of the Iraq war resolution in October 2002.

"Obviously, I've thought about that a lot in the months since," she said. "No, I don't regret giving the president authority because at the time it was in the context of weapons of mass destruction, grave threats to the United States, and clearly, Saddam Hussein had been a real problem for the international community for more than a decade."

Looks like Mark Penn does it full-time and charges through the teeth for his services, to boot.
Maybe he should spend less time being a money-grubbing glutton and more time
shopping for a decent wig.:hi:

13. That is funny...
but it sounds to me like most of the people in the campaign have been fed up with Penn for quite a while. Lots of "fuck you" exchanges going on between the top advisers in the campaign, and Penn has almost always been at the center of every fight. They now have a pretty good reason to fire his ass, and besides that, as already pointed out in this thread, Penn is an expensive consultant.

People can rip Obama up and down all they want but that man has run a very clean and efficient campaign and his staff has been fantastic.

14. I watched it this morning. I'll say one thing about Rendell, he danced
the time of his life with Tim Russert. Tim had a hard time pinning down the clever politician, but did get him so mixed up he couldn't keep his thoughts or tongue working together.

I had a mental picture in my mind of the Clinton throwing up on each other at the same time.

It was a gas to watch.

I'm not saying that he doesn't deserve the brunt of the criticism for how badly the Clinton campaign has been run.

But by the time Hillary folds the tent, Mark Penn will be the one and only reason she failed - absolving her for her own screwups and leaving her with a blank slate for 2012.

34. excerpt from article link
Appearing on NBC's Meet the Press, Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell didn't exactly give the longtime Clinton pollster a vote of confidence.

Asked directly if the campaign should cut ties with Penn, Rendell said, "Well there are a lot of issues in which you can raise that question."

"Yeah, I think you've got to make it very clear for someone who is a consultant, who you are representing and who you are not representing and I would hope that Mr. Penn when he talked to the Colombians made that clear," Rendell also said. "And it doesn't sound to me like he did and that's something the campaign should take into question."

46. Your subject line is wrong. Rendell did NOT call for Penn to be fired.
He shoulda. But he didn't. He waffles all around the subject, and sort hints that it maybe oughta be a question or something.

Here's my analysis of his remarks. On the basis of his use of the English language alone, I would guess that he is as corrupt as they come--and, at the least, highly conflicted on this issue (Mark Penn) and trying to position himself to advantage vis a vis a raucous, bloody backroom fight.

63. Rendell may not have outright called for Penn's firing, but he certainly
hinted that the Clinton campaign needs to rethink keeping him on. And if Clinton doesn't toss Penn out with the trash, she is not better than Bush keeping Rummy around, when everyone around him wanted Rummy gone and it was obvious he was incompetent.

I don't want anyone else in the WH that holds onto incompetents out of some kind of misplaced loyalty that does harm.
