1. NO- 6 more precincts to Report and its a 2700+ vote lead for Herseth....
...Very, Very Close....No one has conceded yet - the news that keeps breaking that Herseth has won is too premature...its so close, either side might ask for a recount...As of 1:50AM CST.....off the sec. of state website....

U S HOUSE
(R) DIEDRICH LARRY 128784 49 792 798
(D) HERSETH STEPHANIE 131531 51 792 798

2. It looks like it is officially over now
(R) DIEDRICH LARRY 128941 49 794 798
(D) HERSETH STEPHANIE 132041 51 794 798

Will there be a recount, or will someone concede?

Maybe Tom Delay will send his storm troopers to the state to take over?

As usual, the media is "predicting" before the results are all in...Deidrich still hasn't conceded and could ask for a recall...the Repukes don't want to lose this....

23. the funniest one is this
from a presumed Bush-lover:

***********
Oh, I see that Herseth is a legacy, and a lawyer to boot.
Herseth is a 33-year-old Georgetown-educated lawyer and a member of one of South Dakota's most distinguished political families.

(Yanked from CNN.com)

I guess that's why she squeaked by, good old-fashioned nepotism (both from family and the legal profession).

21. How funny! They seem to think if Chimpy had shown up that Larry would
...have won by a landslide....they really are crazy...don't they know that the reason he didn't show is because it would have tipped it even more in her direction?

They are also saying just wait till November....but the best part is that they are knocking her being a "lawyer" as if that is exclusively a Democrat trait...maybe they should look at how many of their "lawmakers" are lawyers....

Last time I checked the size of government has grown greatly, but mostly due to corporate welfare.

So, if I'm forced to choose between welfare for people or welfare for corporations, I'll pick welfare for people.

25. I never understand the so-called "Freeper Logic"...the spending and size
...of our "Government" has exploded in size thanks to Bush's and the Republican's spending and ballooning deficit...

Where they get their info to justify their "logic" is beyond me....

Most of the "news" they post comes from Scaife funded propaganda outlets like Newsmax.

27. Yes, but
she won by a narrow margin and will be up for reelection in about five months. SD is a red state, so she has her work cut out for her.

29. Way closer...they originally expected 5-10% for Herseth...
But, your right, a win is a win...which emphasizes why every vote does matter and why we need to make sure we get out the vote in Nov.

30. Yep
To me, it doesn't matter if we win by one or a million, just as long as we win-we have to take back the Congress, White House, and Governor's Mansions. Congrats go out to Herseth (and if everyone looks at it this way, this is the third consecutive major victory for Democrats):

1. Kathleen Blanco is elected governor of Louisiana
2. Ben Chandler is elected to the House
3. Stephanie Herseth is elected to the House
