Pelosi needs to tell Tim Russert that the press has failed our troops
Edited on Sun May-30-04 08:37 AM by flpoljunkie
Damn Russert for badgering her over and over about criticizing Shrub for Iraq this past week. What a contrast to the way he bootlicks Republicans. Bob Dole is coming up; let's see what kind of questioning he gets.

Pelosi is standing her ground, but I wish she would say that the media failed us in the run up to the war and they continue to fail us by standing by their man, Bush, and failing to take blame for cheerleading us to war and falling in line behind the Bushies by equating dissent with a lack of patriotism.

Russert is relentless in his questioning, but Pelosi is doing a terrific job for us. I am pleased that I just this week sent the DCCC another contribution to help them take back House. Pelosi is one courageous woman, and I salute her.

She stood up to Russert's repeated assaults and defended her positions well. She made the important point, more than once, that this war in Iraq, was a war of choice, thereby emphasizing Bush's failed presidential leadership.

_____________

Russert could not be more tender with Bob Dole--commiserating with him about those awful statements made by those unpatriotic Democrats. A mutual suck-up fest with Dole being sure to mention "Big Russ and Me" Russert's new book. This is journalism?

1. Hell, they need to pin Chalabi to bush/cheney.....MUST READ..
The New Yorker magazine has a long article on how Chalabi fully planned this war to oust Saddam, to revenge Saddam's ousting of the Chalabi family. The Chalabis were equivalent to the bush family in Iraq. They were rich and powerful. Chalabi learned that the only way to get rid of Saddam and get his family's wealth back, was to get the USA into a war against Iraq. He tried to get the Clinton administration into war. Thanks to (Jack?)Ritter, a specialist in Iraqi intelligence, who was able to warn the Clinton administration of Chalabi's lies.

Chalabi knew that the democrats were not for war. The Chalabi Washington DC foundations, funded and planted many of the stories against President Clinton. Chalabi, knowing that Saddam tried to kill bush #1, raised huge funds to elect bush junior. He knew that bush junior, like himself, hated Saddam and wanted revenge. For sure, Chalabi knew that the republicans love war.

Chalabi even set up a PR Christian organization to support bush junior. Chalabi even placed his own niece to work with the New York Times and with Judith Miller, so that he could control his war stories in the media, and attack the CIA every time the CIA claimed his lies.

Must Read Article. I don't know if this is the right place to this article. It just fits the above post.

2. I thought she was great....the best I've seen her
She showed guts and emotion and came right out and more or less said that Bush doesn't know anything about anything!....She never lost her cool and didn't back down no matter how Russert tried to cow her by asking "how do you think the troops would feel hearing your words?"....

3. I sure wish she had said "impeachment" today. Why is no
one in the House saying that word? Start the ball rolling. The Democrats are so gutless. They should have a plan on Iraq if they're going to critize Bushco. They sound so wandering - just like Bushco.

4. Because impeachment is impossible with the House in GOP
control, and talking about it is pointless. I think things are going along smoothly with Buschco collectively cutting its own throat. I suppose it could be phrased somthing like "They impeached Bill Clinton for lying about a blow job..." But the Russerts of the world would only make fun of impeachment talk, to what end?

5. Wandering?
I think sharp criticism like Pelosi's and Gore's is entirely appropriate, and they don't need any "plan" to buy the right to criticize.

7. I know well-mannered people like Rush Limbaugh
are always helpfully advising Democrats to be polite, but I want my leaders speaking out, speaking the truth, and not backing down to rightwingers who call them "mean spirited" and "crazy" to try to hush them.

Saying the Chimp is incompetent is stating the obvious. Saying his administration have made dangerous policy mistakes and should resign is saying what needs to be said. If they're meek, like Tom Daschle, do rightwingers listen and respect them? NO. There are some people who won't listen and respect them no matter what, and those aren't the people whose advice we should be heeding.

9. "leave the screaming and namecalling to the republicans"
Why wouldn't Repugs screaming and namecalling make that same small number of undecided voters "wonder if these people can be trusted with power and if they are stable?" -- particularly combined with all the direct evidence that they can NOT be trusted with power, including soaring deficits, unnecessary wars, bungled foreign policy, and undermining little things like the Bill of Rights, the Geneva Conventions and national credibility worldwide...

They've got plenty of reasons to vote the Chimp out. The idea that Gore telling the truth about those reasons, with passion and eloquence, makes people say "Whoa, better not vote for Kerry because Gore isn't stable, so Kerry might do something crazy like invade another country or mislead the world or something," that's a small risk I'm perfectly willing to take.

And I'm not sure why you haven't noticed that Kerry is out there speaking every day, in state after state, about his goals, plans and proposals for getting the country back on track.

10. I wonder what's more important,
possibly snagging undecided voters, or losing long time Democrats?

12. Just about every post you make bashes Democrats - are you voting Bush?
Look at the response in the media when Gore and Pelosi destroy the right wing chicken hawks. They cry like babies!

If Bush supporters are unhappy that Pelosi and Gore are fighting them and beating them, then they must be doing something right!

11. I was waiting for Russert to bait Dole about Kerry's medals
Edited on Sun May-30-04 02:59 PM by zulchzulu
It was pretty pathetic overall. Russert was trying to bait him on issues and get some soundbite about how Democrats aren't "patriots" or something.

Dole's a good guy for the most part and probably just wanted to talk about the WWII Memorial and not this recent quagmire.

I did like the footage of him speaking yesterday about how he'd like to have sent cookies, candy, fruit cups...and don't forget the candy in a letter he wrote home when he was a kid soldier over there...

15. Russert is a pathetic upstate loser
and this is coming from an upstate New Yorker.

I know his type. He's a total loser, has an incredibly huge chip on his shoulder, and therefore sucks up to the worst political elements in this country, the GOP.

He is such a loser that he needs the approval of the Republicans, who of course play him like a violin.

He is not a journalist, he's a sad, pathetic idiot.

Edited on Sun May-30-04 07:53 PM by KoKo01
to her points and didn't let that wind bag, CIA Operative Russert, get her on any point and bring her down.

She was SUPERB. As I said, not a Pelosi fan and am a Lefty DU'er, but today she was a "Grand Lady" sparring down the best of the Media Whores.

I'm going to send her a Thank You! We all should do this.
