Tucker Carlson melt down on Crossfire
Did anyone see it? After Begala showed a graphic of the rain fall in Crawford leading up to the "bike tumble" and he just stood there for a second and just started screaming (in an effort to get laughter from the audience) about how Bush will lose because of rain fall etc. It was classic. He just started screaming at the top of his lungs and you could hear a pin drop in the audience. They were seriously freaked out.

I've never seen that before from him. He usally tries to remain calm, at least before BushCo's wheels started falling off.

4. God, I hope there's a clip of that somewhere!
I hate Fucker Carlson - the only things I find even remotely interesting about him is his belief that O'Rielly is a fake (Carlson should know what that's like!) and his coverage of b*sh's infamous "Please don't kill me" statement.

I'd love to see what you just described.

Maybe some good person can find a clip and post it here. I'd love to see it, also. :-)

6. I'm reading "The Republican Noise Machine" now. And I'm certainly glad...
to hear of any right wing media type engaged in odd, embarrassing behavior. Call it an appreciation of revenge. I didn't see this today, but I have seen Carlson go "off the pier" on Crossfire before. It's weird to watch.

8. Sunday on Chris Matthew's show Tucker said Bush was finished
It was in reaction to one of the points someone else made, I think it was that Bush was not going to change strategy in Iraq, and Carlson said, then that's it, Bush is finished. And he seemed kind of crushed.

34. Don't trust any of 'em
Hume, Carlson, Novak, the rest... they're planting the seeds now to reduce Dem turn-out in November.

Let's face it. There are a whole lotta Democrats who aren't that thrilled with Kerry (and don't misunderstand me here--I like Kerry just fine). They will support him to get Bush out of office, but if they think Kerry has a win in the bag, they'll just stay home in November. Perhaps as important, they won't work very hard for Kerry's election along the way.

I'd like to think Bush is toast as much as anyone, but if we get complascent, and think this election won't be close, we'll have four more years of national and global tragedy.

We can NOT afford to let up, to slack off for even the shortest time.

you do not believe in.

Carlson does not believe in the war, budget deficits, etc.

The old style cons don t agree with the neo-cons about very much.

Footprints in the Sand

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonged to him and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it. "LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."

The LORD replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you".

This beautiful poem was written by Mary Stevenson.

20. Dumb lie ...

What's worse is they didn't even BOTHER to fact check it. They simply assumed that their synchophantic press would propogate their myth.

Had they put the LEAST bit of thought to it, they would have come up with a lie that couldn't be verified. As we all know, these are safe lies.

For example, they could have said that Bush him a patch of sand. No big deal. Everyone who owns a bike has CRASHED on a bike. The reflexive notion of this administration is the president's narcisism. They are frantically trying to maintain the image of an INFALLIBLE president. How could an INFALLIBLE man crash his mountain bike. Therefore, the ground must have done it.

30. here's a snip of the transcript of that interaction. why is carlson still
Edited on Wed May-26-04 12:04 AM by progressivebebe
on crossfire? his responses are juvenile and downright silly. well, here it is:

<snip>
BEGALA: President Bush took a spill on his bike Saturday. It's the sort of thing that could happen to any athletic person. It happens to lots of us, but his reaction to that spill was perhaps instructive.

Mr. Bush's spokesman told reporters -- quote -- "It's been raining a lot and the top soil is loose."

(LAUGHTER)

BEGALA: But the Web site DailyKos.com looked up the actual precipitation in the days before Mr. Bush's fall. Here it is.

(LAUGHTER)

BEGALA: May 22, zero inches of rain, May 21, zero inches, May 20, zero, May 19, zero, May 18, zero, May 17, zero, May 16, zero, May 15, zero, May 14, 0.03 inches of rain. So when Mr. Bush's aide says it's been raining a lot, he means it rained three-one-hundredths of an inch eight days before Mr. Bush fell.

(LAUGHTER)

BEGALA: So what why would the Bushies lie about the weather? Perhaps the better question is, when will they tell the truth about anything?

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

CARLSON: You got it, Paul. The audience is impressed. You busted him! You got him! This election's over, baby! This election's over! You busted him! Whew!

(BELL RINGING)

BEGALA: Actually, it is, in point of fact.

CARLSON: You got him, Paul!

(CROSSTALK)

CARLSON: You go. Bush loses on rainfall!

(CROSSTALK)

CARLSON: That's right, baby!

BEGALA: You know how you tell he's lying? His lips move.

(APPLAUSE)

CARLSON: Well, it's time for another installment of the John Kerry slogan watch, where we track what exactly the Kerry campaign says it stands for. This morning Senator Kerry came out with his 10th -- that's right, his 10th -- campaign slogan in less than a year. It is, take off to a stronger America.

The slogan was announced at the unveiling of Kerry's new campaign plane, a five-cabin 757 with its own stand-up bar. It's not quite as luxurious as Kerry's own private jet, but, still, it's not bad. And just to show that he's not wholly without irony, John Kerry had one of his nine other slogans painted on the side of it. It says, "The Real Deal." Of course it does, because when you fly around in your own five-cabin 757 with a stand-up bar, you are, needless to say, the real deal.

Reporters who travel with Kerry almost never use these slogans, of course. They can't keep track of them either. Instead, they refer to the plane more accurately as "Hair France."

(APPLAUSE)

BEGALA: Well, at least John Kerry is not dressing up in a flight suit and landing on an aircraft carrier.

CARLSON: Oh, give me a break. Give me a break, Paul.

BEGALA: If we want to compare planes here, look at President Bush dressing up like G.I. Joe.

(CROSSTALK)

BEGALA: Then he goes to the ranch and dresses up like Mr. Greenjeans.

CARLSON: I know you hate Bush. I know you hate Bush.

(CROSSTALK)

CARLSON: He's the biggest cross-dresser in America.

(CROSSTALK)

CARLSON: You got him!

(CROSSTALK)

CARLSON: Wait. No, but I thought you were for cross-dressing, Paul. You're a Democrat. You can't criticize cross-dressing. You are a bigot, buddy. You are a gay basher. You just criticized cross- dressing. That's outrageous. Bigotry on our show.

http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0405/25/cf.01.html

to add: tucker carlson brought up cross dressing and blamed in on begala. begala just made comments about bush dressing up but never mentioned cross dressing. what is up with that??? something is definitely wrong with tucker carlson.

31. Tucker may be leaving Crossfire,
Edited on Wed May-26-04 02:11 AM by dems4america
he is starting his own show on PBS called Unfiltered.

CNN's Tucker Carlson will begin his own half-hour PBS talk show, “Tucker Carlson: Unfiltered,” on June 18.

Carlson, on whether he was “filtered” before: “No, basically, I want a place where if you've got an opinion that you think is right, but a little out of step with the mainstream, and you're embarrassed to express it, you feel comfortable expressing it on this show.”

Carlson admits to having a change of heart about the Iraq war: “I think it's a total nightmare and disaster, and I'm ashamed that I went against my own instincts in supporting it. It's something I'll never do again. Never. I got convinced by a friend of mine who's smarter than I am, and I shouldn't have done that.”

38. Yeah, where's Carville?
I went to the live show once when it was still on in the evening. We got there early and were milling around looking at stuff in the lobby. Carville walked right by. I wanted to approach him for a handshake and tell him how much I admired him but he had such a preoccupied look on his face that I was afraid to approach him.

I think he looks a little like a space alien, but he's my favorite space alien.
