Casey: "I believe in this guy like I've never believed in a candidate in my life, except my father"

Those of you outside of PA don't really understand this. Bob Casey's demographic in PA is Clinton's demographic. This is huge.

Lots of old catholics in SW Pa will be giving Obama another look SIMPLY because of Casey's words today.

For any thinking person's sake, I hope that isn't true.

5. You don't understand how influential the Casey brand is on PA Catholics....
...

Lots of old-timers saying things like, "If Bobby likes the guy... maybe I need to take another look."

14. Maybe you need to look at the Rendell vs. Casey, Jr., bout for governor, 2002:
Edited on Sat Mar-29-08 04:21 AM by WinkyDink
"Edward G. Rendell, the former mayor who repolished this city's image in becoming a national Democratic leader, won his party's nomination today for governor, soundly defeating Robert P. Casey Jr., Pennsylvania's auditor general, in the most expensive, television-steeped primary in state history.

With 97 percent of the precincts reporting, Mr. Rendell led by more than 125,000 votes, with a margin of 56 percent to 44 percent."

There are more than Catholics here.

21. Isn't that the point of all endorsements?
Ed Rendell endorses Clinton so I should vote for her.

8. To the OP-- Way OFF Base
Bob Casey is NOT well liked in PA, how do I know, I am from Western PA and the only reason Casey, Jr. endorsed Obama is because of the on-going freud his father Gov. Casey, Sr. had with Bill Clinton way back in 1992.

. . and I will add that Bob Casey, Jr. only won in PA by default against Rick Santorum. Hell, anyone in PA would vote for anyone that ran against Santorum.

Bob Casey, Jr. has as much clout among Democrats here as Rick Santorum. Look at Casey's voting record in the Senate. He is more republican than McCain; and people here know that.

11. Hillary is doing just fine
Gov. Ed Rendell, Mayor of Philly, Mayor of Pittsburgh, Mayor of Erie, so on and so on. . .

Just telling you that Casey is a drip; and not well-liked in PA. It's general knowledge here. Couldn't care less, as the majority of Pennsylvanians couldn't care less with that piss poor endorsement.

12. Well, we saw how much (not) Senatorial endorsements helped in Massachusetts...
I think it's an interesting endorsement in that he's a rightwinger, for all intents and purposes, supporting the supposedly liberal, but actually quite corporate candidate.

Interesting detail you provided there--makes sense. So the guy is "revenging" for his "deddy" eh? Sounds like someone else we know!

20. I don't think that either Clinton or Obama's demographic is anti-choice
One might have less of a pro-choice record than the other, but if either of them were specifically pro-life neither of them would stand a chance.
