We only have adults reading this now, right? :D
Shhh - wait a minute! Quiet! Keep it down people. Listen really hard right now. Do you hear that? That’s the sound of Freepers laughing their asses off at us. Most of them have a pretty poor grasp on the concept of irony so the fact that we’re merely acting like they usually do escapes them. They just love watching us act like douche bags. We’re keeping them so busy that they’re neglecting more important tasks like arguing over whether or not McCain could take Romney in a cage match. They’re taking time away from their discussions over who they would rather nail – Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin or Tucker Carlson. They’re taking time away from the lengthy hours they spend masturbating to pictures of Chuck Norris and Barbara Bush. Men and Women of DU – have some compassion and set those Freepers free! Let them go back to arguing whether or not we could kick ass in Iran. Let them go back to ripping each other apart because their candidate isn’t as cool as Dick Cheney. They have so much fun debating whether or not they’re going to vote for Bob Barr, John McCain or just write-in Ted Nugent – let them do that. Have mercy on them!!!
Oh – and shut the fuck up for me too! :D I’d rather sit in a small room and listen to Rush for a week with only pork rinds and flat non-alcoholic beer to sustain me than listen to your bickering and whining. :hurts: :puke:
If you like playing little games and fomenting board drama, don’t read the rest of this post. If you like acting like a 7th grader scorned, move on. If you like feeling important because you're taking part in secret "board wars" or drawing attention to those wars, move on. If you enjoy taking part in character assignations that make 15 year olds' MySpace wars look nuanced and thoughtful, move on. There's nothing to see here. :eyes:
If you're a Freeper, a stealth campaign worker, or a delusional Obama or Clinton supporter who would rather hurt your candidate than help him or her, you probably shouldn't read this either (although the last group should maybe be ashamed that you’re being lumped in the same category as Freepers). I know you guys are too busy trying to piss off people here that are either too slow or too immature not to see the games you're playing. Those of you who fell in the trap and posted a reply to something inflammatory, only to realize later that you were just pissing in the wind – well, there’s hope for you. :D Keep reading!
If you're someone who feels passionately about your candidate, if you're someone who wants to make a difference, if you're someone who's sick as shit about the stupidness that's drowning out the grassroots effort here, then read on!
Taking part in these activities will actually make you effective. It will actually help us get back the White House in November!!! I know - SCARY thought, huh? It's not quite as much fun as telling someone to fuck off (and for love of God – if you’re going to do that, at least be efficient about it. Some of you people have to take 10 posts bickering to get to that point!) . It’s not nearly as much fun as calling people Hillbots and Obamatrons. :eyes: It’s a hard fact of life that being an adult isn’t nearly as much fun as acting like a three year old who missed their nap. So why do it?
http://icasualties.org/oif/">Wake the hell up people!!! There are people dying right now and you’re too busy taking part in Pastorgate/Snipergate to actually do something about it!
We have a chance to actually get them home to their families and loved ones.
I would have just bumped
the post that NWHarkness made a few nights ago rather than bore you with my soliloquy, but his/her post was archived with only 6 replies. That's pathetic. The next time you all get that uncontrollable urge to rip each other apart, why not do one of these things?
I think we are all anxious to get the primary season over with, but for most of us, who live in states that have already held our primaries or caucuses, there isn't much we can do about that except wring our hands and, unfortunately, take shots at each other.
Let's not do that. If your state has voted, why not get to work on bringing down our real foe, John McCain. Obama and Clinton and their campaigns have their hands full, and McCain is getting a free ride in the press and with the public, generally. But we can take it upon ourselves to change that.
Let's get to work.
Let's write letters to the editors of our local papers, pointing out McCain's real record.
Let's hit the other boards around the net, at the TV network and newspaper sites, and anywhere else we can post our opinions.
Print off some anti-McCain signs and get them up around your town.
Make your own anti-McCain flyers and hand them out at local events.
Make a "No McCain" sign and stand on a street corner if you can't think of anything else.
But, damn it, let's start pulling him down instead of each other. Stop talking about the grass roots and actually BE the grass roots.
If you won’t do these things for the men and women in Iraq, if you won’t do it for the economy, if you won’t do it for the environment, if you won’t do it for decent judges for SCOTUS, if you won’t do it for the people in this country that have no voice that go to bed hungry, lose their homes and die due to lack of decent health care – If you won’t do it for any of these reasons, them please. I beseech you!
Do it for the Freepers!!! Free them from their bondage here. Plus their presence kind of smells up the joint, ya know?!!
Love,
me
BTW – for any of you that want to tell this newbie to STFU, I’ve been here since 2001. And I love you too! :loveya:
