Bush and Kerry Tied in Red States! (Zogby)
from the most recent Zogby Poll:

In the Blue States, those that were won by former Vice-President Al Gore in the 2000 presidential election, Kerry receives 49.1% of support, as compared to Bush with 38.4%. In Red States Kerry and Bush are in a statistically tie with 45% a piece. The results here are reflective of a polarized and partisan electorate.

John Kerry 49% 45

George W. Bush 38 45

Undecided 8 7

       East South GrLk West

Kerry 53% 43 47 45

Bush 36 47 41 44

I know there was a thread yesterday on the whole poll, but to me, this is so important that it needs to be highlighted. A few more percentage points means an electoral landslide.

1. Rasmussen: Kerry & Bush tied in AR.
Just saw this a few days ago, too. If Kerry is giving Bush a run for his money in the border states, this game is OVER.

I don't have much hope for the deep South (except maybe LA), but keep an eye on AR, TN, KY, NC, and MO. If Kerry is tied or ahead in these states, Bush is in very big trouble.

2. Yahoo!
And we haven't had our convention yet. I'm hoping for some really great speeches that will resonate with the folk. Maybe one from Howard Dean :)

3. His Lead in the Red States is Not Much
Wow. It's entirely possible that if things continue like this he could win some red states that were thought to be out of reach. Put Edwards on the ticket and the Carolina's could be in serious play for instance.

15. NC, SC, VA are solidly red
The Carolinas are very conservative and Edwards' local appeal is waning the way Gore's did in TN.

VA might have been a chance, but while the economy sucks for most of the country it's *great* here -- defense contractor jobs are feeding the whole NoVa region and this is one of the few places you can go n the country where people will honestly say they're better off now than under Clinton.

We'll have to win without these three, but happily we can -- we can win even if we're completely shut-out in the south.

5. Maybe, just maybe, is Bush's BS catching up with him?
The spread of poll results I have seen are very encouraging.

10. I think it includes places like
Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, Montana...red states. Balance it with CA and WA and you get just a slim lead.
