2. It hasn't quite started yet (time got moved up)
BUT the crowds look MASSIVE. People are lined up for blocks and blocks. Not everybody will be able to fit inside by a long shot.

Go Dean! Go Kerry! Kick some Bush booty back to that fucking Texas hellhold of Crawford!

7. I'm not there, unfortunately
Just watching local news. In between trying to get some work done(which is why I couldn't take several hours out of the day to stand in line).

Unfortunately, it looks like a summer thunderstorm is rolling in right on schedule to dump on everybody! Darn it!

11. No, just proof he had huge support in Portland.
I believe he drew 15,000 there at a rally during the campaign.

Over 3,000. They couldn't get them all in b/csecurity
at the gate was so tight it took a long time.

14. I went to it!
Just walked home from it, in fact...YES, there was a huge crowd, overflow in fact...I got there late and stood across the street from the square but I could see Kerry and Dean just fine (although I was about a block away!) There was a little bit of drizzle at times, but it was warm and the sun shined as well... Kerry stood out with his white shirt and orange tie, and he sounded great....A couple of lines stood out..."I think it's time we had a president who believes in science", and later, noticing the American flags, "our flag does NOT belong to the Republican party!"
All in all I left with a real good feeling, great to see Howard Dean there too...I got a sign with foot high letters that just says "Kerry", I think I'll put it in the window of my car!

15. Reuters says about 4000.

http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=topNews&storyID=5171523&pageNumber=0

SNIP..."Dean, who vehemently opposed the Iraq war -- unlike Kerry who voted for the congressional resolution authorizing the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq -- was not so kind to Bush.
After praising Kerry's heroism as a decorated Vietnam War veteran, Dean told about 4,000 boisterous supporters crammed into a downtown city square, "I can't wait for a commander in chief who actually served abroad. There's a lot of talk in this election about patriotism ... I haven't heard from anybody on the other side who spent a day of their life overseas."

And:
http://www.mlive.com/newsflash/michigan/index.ssf?/newsflash/get_story.ssf?/cgi-free/getstory_ssf.cgi?a0799_BC_Kerry&&news&election2004

SNIP...""He served his country with patriotism and valor and stood up for what's right," Dean told about 4,000 cheering supporters. "I want somebody who understands right from wrong."

Around 4000 seems to be the consensus.

18. Oregonian says 4000 inside, another 4000 outside at least.
http://www.oregonlive.com/news/oregonian/index.ssf?/base/front_page/1084881765205370.xml

SNIP..."An estimated 4,000 people were allowed inside the chain-link fencing that surrounded the Portland square, and an equal number lined downtown streets to greet the Massachusetts senator on his first presidential campaign visit to Oregon...."
