Question for Obama Supporters: If Hillary Clinton Becomes the Dem Nominee
MATTER HOW IT HAPPENS (even if the only way she wins is by vote of Super Delegates and actually seating Michigan and Florida delegates at the Convention, even though the seating of Michigan and Florida delegates and counting the Michigan and Florida votes would give Clinton more regular delegates, and more popular votes than Obama),

WOULD YOU VOTE FOR HILLARY CLINTON IN THE GENERAL ELECTION (even if by not voting or by writing in Barack Obama instead of voting for Clinton you and people doing the same thing as you tip the scales in favor of allowing McCain to steal the election)?

The Rules are the rules, and it looks like this is going to the convention people.

4. I think this line of thinking is a joke on Hillary's part.
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 08:43 AM by dkf
But in general, I do not award bad behavior.

And to Obama supporters, if you say you will, then you must realize you are going to feed into her argument that she can get Obama supporters, but he can't get hers. Of course that is after she tries to get her own supporters to vote for John McCain to help make her argument valid in the first place.

I didn't like Kerry either, and I don't think he was our BEST CANDIDATE, but I voted for him. The US CAN'T survive as we know it under another Pub ruler, and we all need to remember THAT'S THE REAL PRIZE!

My vote will be an anti McCain vote. I will not be able to make phone calls or volunteer any other way because I don't like her, but even with that, she is better than McCain.

26. Clinton is not better IMO
I don't think she has the politcal savvy to accomplish anything meaningful domestically

I think that in order to look tough she'll basically follow the Republicans on Iraq (possibly into Iran as well)

and I think she is unstable as a person - vendictive, untrustworthy and with a slim grip on reality.

Absolutely no way I'd even consider voting for her.

16. I have made it clear since the day of the Iraqi War Resolution...
I have made it clear since the day of the Iraqi War Resolution
that anyone who voted for the resolution would *NEVER* get
another bit of support from me. No speaking well of them, no
money, and no votes. Ever.

Eventually, in the interest of pragmatism, I was willing to
compromise my principles sufficiently far as to allow a vote
for those Democrats (like Edwards) who saw the light, accepted
that their vote was stupid, and publicly recanted. But Hillary
hasn't done that, has she?

So no, even though I supported (financially) her run for
Senate in 2000, Hillary is off my list. Banished from my
life. Dead to me. And I've made thise clear since 2003 so
it's not like this comes as a surprise to those folks who
believed they could simply anoint her, we'd all fall in
line, and hold our noses and vote for her.

I won't.

Tesha

(Luckily, it's looking ever more likely that this is just
a hypothetical question; unless she pulls some amazing
"fast ones", she hasn't a hope in Hell of gaining the
nomination.)

21. Yeah, I suppose I will.
The country is battered and bleeding after 8 years of bush, but it is still staggering ahead -- toward something, somewhere. A Clinton vs McCain contest would mean another term of war, corporate boot-licking, cronyism, and screw-the-little-guy politics, regardless of which one wins. So WTF, at least Mrs. Clinton is a nominal Democrat.

I've voted Republican many times.

The war's got to end. I'm not anti-war, but Iraq was a diversion, and a badly managed one at that. Now it jeopardizes the economy.

I was a McCain supporter in 2000. Voted for Bush because I really dislike Gore. In the long view it's the only vote I've ever really regretted.

32. I'm glad to see it go to the convention.
The best outcome I see for the party is a brokered convention, and a nominee that is neither HRC nor Obama. For that slight chance, I will vote for whichever candidate is running a little behind when my primary rolls around in late May.

34. The only way she can win the primary at this point is by using dirty tricks
And if she wins the primary that way, then no, I won't vote for her in the general election. Why should I? She can win the GE the same way if that's how she wants it.

If she had won the primary fairly, then yes, I would have voted for her in the GE.

36. I will vote for her if she wins in a way that I feel is ethical...
If she wins the pledged delegate count(which I don't see how she can at this point) I will hold my nose...

If she poaches pledged delegates, continues to threaten super delegates, forces illegitimate FL and MI delegates, and has the super delegates overturn the pledged delegates... you can count my vote OUT.

If she Tonya Hardings a legitimate candidate, and the party decides to count two completely illegitimate primaries (one of which without a name even on the ballot) and then the party decides to throw away the vote altogether because of a black pastor and just coronate who the Big Money elite of the party wants instead of the people, the Democratic Party can go fuck itself. Why in the world would I blindly support that shit?

McCain's an imbecile, but I've weathered 8 years of one I can scratch through 4 more.

I will never vote for a DLCer...the act would be the equivalent of sticking a gigantic knife into the progressive movement just as it is getting its footing.

That might make me a bad Democrat, but my loyalty is more to ideology than party, anyways.
