Why Isn't Kerry Doing A Little Bit Better Than However Well He Is Now?
Seriously, if Kerry discovered a cure for cancer, people around here would complain that he's neglecting pneumonia. We have a candidate that is already beating a sitting wartime President once thought so unbeatable that Hillary Clinton wasn't even going to try. Considering how the media screws with Kerry while kissing Bush's ass, you'd be impressed if he was losing within the margin. But he's not - he's ahead, for Pete's sake!

And you wonder why Democrats can't get their act together. Would a teency bit of optimism kill you? Do we always have to be cynical bastards waiting for the worst? Do we always have to call a glass 3/10 empty instead of 7/10 full?

We are doing a fantastic job, even with our own people trying to undermine our candidate. Lighten up. We are about to get one of the top three most liberal Presidents in U.S. history. That's like, you know, a good thing.

1. Why do so many Kerry kneecap threads begin with a question?
Sorry Doc, I don't mean this one. :-) But I've noticed this trend in the last few weeks.

Seems that there are some here who'll be downright disappointed if Kerry's elected in November. Makes you wonder...

5. I agree. He is doing just fine.
Look at what he has to overcome-an incumbent President (albeit, a shitty one), the nation is "at war", the press couldn't suck up to Bush and the rest of the warpigs any more, etc. Look at Bush's ratings: a piss-poor 42% in some polls. Look at where Kerry is. And this is the standing of a man that the media keeps saying is unknown to most of the country. Not too shabby.

4. No, a teensy bit of optimism..
..wouldn't kill us. It'll merely kill any chance we have at winning the election. In case you forgot, we're dealing with an electorate that willingly started a war based on jinogistic bloodlust and nonexistant evidence. All the Bush administration needs is another terrorist attack in the U.S. to once again get the slathering mobs voting for him. It'll probably happen, too, given Bush's record for favorable confluences of world events.

We're Democrats. We should know better than to be optimistic.

6. Kerry's playing it right
If things keep going this way, Kerry will win a landslide.

In the first debate, he'll just have to wait for Bush to make his speech about how the evildoers hate us for our freedom. Then he can just jerk his thumb, raise his eyebrows and walk off to victory.

Bush is imploding. I hope (and think) that the Kerry campaign is whispering that development right along, but I surely wouldn't want them to stand up and get in the way.

7. Bush Is Doomed
He can't get the war in Iraq going right no matter how many of our kids lose their lives. He is creating with Rumsfeld policies many more terrorists daily. If we get hit again, it will be Bush's actions. But he doesn't care. If corporate profits are happy, that's all he cares about.

8. He is doing fine. Bush is cutting himself off at the knees and
Kerry is speaking to the country in the back ground. It seems to be just the right thing at this time.

9. I allow no room to be optimistic
as much as I would like to feel as such, I'm scared to death that if he gets elected in 2004, Bush will be every bit the boogey man I fear him to be.

Kerry is doing fine, yes yes, but I want Kerry to be stomping Bush's ASS. I want Bush erased from the history books! This is the man who stole the electoral vote in 2000. If Kerry is ahead by less than double digits, Bush may do it again, and get away with it. Again.

So, I find myself taking out some of that fear on Kerry from time to time. Sorry, it's just a chat forum.

10. You don't WANT him doing better.
You don't want Kerry's numbers to be so good that anyone decides his vote won't make a difference, so it's okay to vote for Nader or stay home.

Frankly, the way Bush is imploding, I'm getting scared. It's too damned soon. I need him to be nominated before it all hits the fan. The way things are going, George will be out before the convention. And then ALL the focus will be going the wrong way.

The Republican convention shouldn't be taking place in a city with such high buildings. Really. We may have jumpers.

11. Is he doing badly?
This is very early in the election season -- I don't remember a general election contest being waged this heavily this long before either convention. Consider Bush has spent 100 million to roughly tie Kerry -- the challenger.

For an incumbant to be having this much trouble this early does not bode well for Bush.
