2. Let's see:
1) I'm getting a bit hungry.
2) I really need to get up and finish cleaning my house and will do so forthwith.
3) I'm looking forward to watching John Adams tonight. And drinking a Sam Adams to go along with it.
4) Hm. Maybe Popeyes would be good for dinner. I like Popeyes chicken. :D

Ok, that's all I got. Getting up now, got to get this house tidy before tomorrow. Having my delegation over to prepare for the next step in the Texas Two-Step. Oh, btw, tune into the news next Saturday night. Expect Obama to win Texas by winning the Senatorial District Conventions. I'm guessing +4 delegates. :)

12. Ah, how I miss Popeye's. That is the only "fast food" I ever enjoyed.
When I lived in Los Angeles, I would go there a couple of times a month. Sadly, I moved to a town where we are at least 100 miles away from the nearest Popeye's, so I haven't had that wonderful food since 2002.

I just want to say that my heart starts racing whenever I hear the mention of Popeye's.

I can smell it. I can taste it.

My favorite - mild thigh with cole slaw and biscuit. Okay, two thighs.

I am so jealous.

13. Oh good, I've been waiting for an opportunity to vent about the
Michigan/Florida mess. How many people remember when this idea was originally cooked up by the DNC? Many posters - I might even say most posters - thought the general ruling was a great idea so Iowa and New Hampshire would lose their clout. I protested, not just because I was a New Hampshire voter, but because it was obvious voters would be disenfranchised and that is just wrong. But, my bitching back then was either ignored, dismissed or derided because it was going to be so good to squash Iowa and New Hampshire and give other states a chance. My predictions have all come true and I want to tell all those who thought it was a wonderful idea - TOLD YOU SO. (Nah, nah, nah-nah, nah.)

119. Okay --
Well I'm tentatively planning my next trip to LA so I give my paltry tourist dollars to the area, so I'll be sure to check it in one of the approved locales.

OH! It just now dawned on me that Mike was talking about Louisiana -- now that you've literally spelled it out for me. I was thinking LA = Los Angeles.

Not only am I deprived, at times I'm depraved.

73. Hey Gateley! You are one of my very favorite people on DU,
But I have to confess I have never been to Greenblatt's.

I don't even know what Greenblatt's is. But when I was in college, I did go to some strange bars in downtown Los Angeles, including one where Beck performed before he was famous.

I'm actually very shy, and the only times I went to bars or popular places in L.A. was when I was dragged there by friends when I was in college.

So you are from L.A.? I miss many things about Los Angeles...

I have never seen you say an unkind thing, though I am sure you have. But you probably felt really, really bad about it after.

I don't know what Greenblatt's is either. Don't tell her. She looks like she could get really angry.

Yeah, I've said things I was ashamed of here, and I tried to ban myself or change my password to something I would never remember... I've tried all sorts of things to break myself from the DU addiction.

But I can't, at least not yet.

of asparagus. I was so bummed. We had squash instead.
By the way, I found this salad dressing/marinade called Garlic Expressions vinaigrette. It's not too garlic-y and is really yummy on steamed veggies like asparagus and zucchini. Drizzle about 1 tablespoon of it with some fresh parm cheese. Easy and tasty!

I cannot understand how divided we are. Why does it have to be "I love candidate A, but I hate candidate B, even though they are both Dems who share the same opinions?"

We need to be smarter than this. We need to prove to the world that we are an evolved species that can engage in analytical reasoning, and not act like stupid idiots.

58. wishful thinking but according to the media, it isn't only DU but a LOT of the....
party and electorate is feeling this way.

With that many people, there has to be some more fundamental reason. Maybe it is the people who have read the behind the scenes things and know what the Clintonistas are really up to and what they will do (you have to know where to go to read them about their surly connections) or the Obamaniacs who just know they don't want the Establishment in control any longer....

If Obama were any other "established" candidate, then it might not be so hard, but although their policies may not be different, he and Hillary offer two very different things.....one you can trust, one you cannot. It comes down to a matter of sincerity and I think Obama is more sincere.

65. I'm sick of both the Obama and Clinton supporters and
wish they'd quit bashing each other and start talking about the problems facing this country.

They make the Dean/Clark controversies of 2004 look like Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood.

This constant criticism of each other and trying to find dirt---it's exactly where the Republicans and the MSM want you.

They set up a trap and you've all fallen for it. The corporate media want a contest where the Clinton supporters are calling the Obama supporters sexist and the Obama supporters are calling the Clinton supporters racist. They want a contest that they can portray in block letters with big fat crayons for the simple-minded. They want a knock-down, drag-out, dirty fight, so that their talking heads have something to be shocked about.

The last thing the corporate media want is the candidates talking seriously about THE ISSUES (not vague feel-good stuff) in a positive manner without badmouthing the other side, because that would be INFORMATIVE, and the corporate media don't do informative. Not anymore.

I'm not only sick of Clinton and Obama and all their supporters, I'm sick of the whole election process--and it's only the end of March.

I fear that with all that's going on, the whole country will be sick of the election process by November and turnout will be the lowest in U.S. history.

And I think that's exactly what the corporatists want.

Liquids liquids and then some more liquids.

Mom used to slather our bodies with Vicks...remember Vicks? Blech. She even slathered Vicks on the bottoms of our feet. Don't ask me why

Mom was the type of person, if you told her you had a hangnail, she would say..."take a physic" (for those who don't know DearAbby Mom speak = you're constipated, take some exlax)

Which reminds me, I had a doctor, if you said you had a hangnail, he would say..."Take off your blouse"... that was long before the negative effects of gravity on Dear-Ol-Abby. :evilfrown:

Thanks for the get well wishes! And, as for liquids, when I feel better it's gonna be :toast: !

83. Ah, that late night voter registration drive thing.
In 2004 we were registering new voters for Kerry and we went by the main post office (open 24/7) to mail forms, on the last day, so they would get the postmark. There were all kinds of people there wanting help with their forms, so we stayed to register voters. And stayed. And stayed. The post office people were so kind, they usually do the last postmark for the day at 8:00 but there was a steady stream of voters coming in to register and so they held the postmark open until midnight.

And we were there until midnight, helping people register to vote. GREAT STUFF.

96. "Stairway To Heaven"
'There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying the stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh, ooh, and she's buying the stairway to heaven.

There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.
In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings,
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it makes me wonder.

There's a feeling I get when I look to the west,
And my spirit is crying for leaving.
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees,
And the voices of those who stand looking.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it really makes me wonder.

And it's whispered that soon if we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason.
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter.

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now,
It's just a spring clean for the May queen.
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on.
And it makes me wonder.

Your head is humming and it won't go, in case you don't know,
The piper's calling you to join him,
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow, and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind.

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul.
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold.
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.

And she's buying the stairway to heaven.'

retirement includes a house there--or whether we're going to give up on the idea and stick with the U.S.

I'd been leaning rebuild in Chapel Hill (after our house burned down last summer)and forget Panama until
the Bear Stearns debacle last week. I now fear that the economic house of cards may come tumbling down sooner than we thought. If so, I think we're going to try to figure out a way to keep an escape hatch
open to Panama.

131. Very funny. We're looking at a place in a distant tropical setting
where we hope life will go on in spite of an economic or political dislocation of the US. There are too many guns here and we fear that if the US goes into a long recession, or worse, that street violence will escalate and the kind of random killings that we saw here in Chapel Hill of Eve Carson will become more common place.
Bush has already set everything in place to declare martial law on his whim. Despite the optimism
of many DU'ers, I don't think either Obama or Hillary can beat McCain. I would give a Pres McCain
scenario about 75% probability of happening.
