Any Clinton Supporters Here Doing Volunteer Work In Pennsylvania?
I'm just curious. I haven't heard of anything here except for the few events she did last week.

4. Thanks, I forgot to ask all my family to donate again.
Thank God, I have a large family and they're all Hillary supporters, except for one.

8. Ironic
Considering Obama is the one who wants to raise teacher wages, where Hillary wants to spend that same money on college incentives...

15. I am a retired teacher
we are paid by the state not the government. The state sets the salaries and in some states those salaries are very good. Obama can't just decide to raise teachers' salaries, it isn't up to him.

38. The federal govt gives big $$$$ to states for education.

They can give the states money to increase teachers salaries.

17. So wrong. Hillary wants to raise teacher's wages.
Hillary wants to take a hard look at how the federal government can supplement teacher's salaries, especially in poor school districts that cannot afford to recruit and retain good teachers.

Also, Some teachers receive retirement benefits through their jobs, and in addition are required to pay into social security through payroll taxes. However, because of regulations they cannot receive both benefits when they retire. Hillary wants to change this so that they receive both benefits.

Hillary believes teachers are the foundation and the backbone of this nation's education system.

And ALL PA. public-school teachers get retirement benefits (in the form of a pension; health-care benefits post-employment vary among districts), not just "some".

14. It Wouldn't Seem That Teachers Would Fit Her Demographic...
Not a slam on anybody, but the polling has been reflecting more college educated voters going the other way. I know a few teachers around here doing work for Obama, but they have to keep it away from their work.

16. Teachers are pretty supportive of both candidiates...
both candidates have good ideas on education. Hillary's getting rid of "no child left behind" is a good platform. I think Obama feels the same.

18. Isn't Obama supportive of No Child Left Behind? Or no. I thought he liked
the idea of giving achievement based incentives. My mother is a teacher, and I know she hates hates hates the ideas behind No Child Left Behind. It really screwed up the school she worked out. I may be entirely wrong on Obama's position, that's why I am asking a supporter. Not flaming or trying to make false claims.

25. you never know sometimes they just run away completely
once I included a reference to being 'left handed' in the title and while it had nothing to with the point of the OP the thread ran for days. Evidently there are a lot of repressed left handers in here.

I appreciate your updates -

Can you update us on any local news stories re PA primary?

I am very curious what the local press said about Clinton not filing a complete delegate slate for the state ( although I understand that it will not effect the outcome) can you update us?

Thanks for your efforts on the ground there. Here it only lasted a few days and was over (CA)

5. Yup, out in Milford today. Saw 7 Ron Paul supporters and 5 for Obama.
Both had signs at the traffic light saying Honk for Paul or Honk for Obama. Quite noisy but I couldn't tell who anyone was honking for. We signed up 8 volunteers, all already Democrats of long standing.

7. I volunteered for Obama today in Pittsburgh
and it was really crowded early this morning. Half our volunteers were from all over the country, as far away as Idaho, and the other half were locals. I canvassed a section of Highland Park with a really nice couple from Squirrel Hill. We were doing a final push for voter reg. before the Monday deadline.

Lot's of volunteers in and out canvassing and lots of walk in registering too. It was a busy place. I just wondered if Clinton had any activities.

22. Way busy in the Lehigh Valley
We have 3 offices pouring people out and events that are going from 9am to a voter registration drive at a bar till 2am. Went canvasing this afternoon and working the pub tonight.

Great to hear Lancaster is doing well.

Yes We Can!

21. Different Strategies
Don't expect to see the Clinton volunteers till 1-2 weeks before the election. They are more focused on GOTV efforts. We have alot more heavy lifting to do with registration, education, and GOTV.

We need to bring new people into the process....they need to go after their demographics. Two different strategies.

at the final stage - as proven by the radically different results in caucuses

35. It's not easy getting out there. I do phone banking which is
intimidating enough. I can talk to strangers if the mood is right but getting out there going door to door or officially doing it takes balls. I hope you enjoy it and have some success. Not too much of course ;)
