Live from Medford- Obama calls Bill Clinton our on "2 people who love America" and...
..."Both John McCain and Hillary Clinton are true patriots..." comment.

Obama does not sit on his hands- and that's the way to beat this sort of smear.

Watch along as history is made, won't you? HERE

1. AP article on Medford Town Hall
Obama takes campaign to conservative Southern Oregon
By Jeff Barnard, Associated Press Writer | Saturday, March 22, 2008

MEDFORD (AP) _ Democratic presidential hopeful candidate Sen. Barack Obama took his message of changing the old partisan politics into a conservative corner of Oregon on today.

Hundreds of supporters stood in a line stretching more than 200 yards in the early morning cold to get good seats for the townhall meeting.

Recreation technician John McKellig, 54, and retired postal worker Arlene Aron, 60, both from the rural community of Applegate, showed up at 9:30 Friday night to be first in line.

"I'm interested in seeing the red state-blue state division disappear," said McKellig, who left the Republican Party and became a Democrat in 2000 after the election of President Bush. "I think we need to heal."

Terry Baker, 27, a forester recently graduated from Yale University and also from Applegate, said he was not closely following the campaign until he read Obama's speech on the need to overcome racism.

"That one speech really did it for me," he said.

-snip

"I think his message is resonating with lunchpail voters more than conservatism has been for the last several years," AuCoin said. "The change I see in Southern Oregon is first of all among conservative Democrats who were Reagan Democrats and even independents. Just an incredible fear of bailouts for Wall Street banks while their own personal security is crumbling. It may cost them their house and retirement, and they are feeling very vulnerable."

8. Mostly question and answer- some great quesitons from the audience.
From Obama's take on the situation in Tibet (beleives we need to work with China but not at the expense of being quiet on their abuses...), the environment, to littler, more personal questions like what tools and methods he uses to avoid the stress of campaigning.

My shorthand doesn't do his answers justice- you may be able to find a replay of the feed on C-Span or local Oregon stations (especially those in Medford).

11. Heh heh, thanks! D'oh, the editing period has expired. I always seem...
...to make that mistype! I was excited because I wanted people to tune in. I think I'm going to watch more of these speeches- they're alot fresher than most other politicans' and ever day seem to have new positions, informatin, responses, etc.

15. I caught a little of CNN during lunch at work today
The best political team on tv was on the job - showing a clip of Obama in Oregon talking about the environment.
So far, so good, Candy "Butterqueen" Crowley said that is a good thing to talk about in Oregon.
Now let's check in on the John McCain campaign.
McCain's fortunes tied to the Iraq war.
Running on his foreign policy credentials (huh?)
That's it.

Not a word about his Al Qaeda-Iran gaffes or Halloween in Israel. Nothing negative at all.
This is the way it's going to be, folks.

17. I suspect John McCain doesn't get ratings for them.
So they spend only the mandatory time covering him.

But you're right - the gaffes should have been covered more.
