No wonder the polls haven't changed at all concerning Wright.....
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 05:50 PM by Flabbergasted
I rarely watch TV. I get most of my news from the internet and occasionally I don't watch or read the "big news" right away.

I finally watched this video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8228774672063047612&q=God+damn+America&total=382&start=10&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0

And like others have pointed out this is exactly what Obama voters believe. In fact this video has only strengthened my belief in Obama.

The best that can be done with this is to paint Obama's pastor as a racist which frankly I think is silly when you put the man in context. He is obviously not racist and is no more hateful than the average DUer fed up with the Bushies.

How can any democrat embrace this as a political tool against him. I expect Pubs to think this way but not democrats.

1. No Worse Than Hagee
He's no worse than Hagee calling Catholicism a "Whore of Babylon"
He's no worse than Falwell saying (and Robertson agreeing) that 9-11 was the fault of feminists, homosexuals, ACLU, etc.

How come the "liberal" media only wants to show the clips of Wright ranting not Hagee going on like the crazy guy on the corner.

2. Except Wright is speaking from his heart of what it is to be a black
in America or from the same vantage point of Democrats/Liberals in this country.

Falwell/Robertson are/were political tools.

3. Wright cannot be compared to those fascists.
He said nothing at all on par with those fools.

4. Note I Said, No Worse

I said Wright is no worse than Hagee. That doesn't preclude that Hagee is worse than Wright. I can at least understand why African Americans might be angry or mistrustful of whites. But I'm not sure that kind of talk has any place on the pulpit.

Rosh Hashannah was a week after the 9-11 attacks. My mother and I needed to heal, we needed a spiritual connection. We were going to a new synagogue, smaller than our previous one. They didn't have a regular rabbi, so they hired one for the High Holidays. The rabbi started saying all this horrible bigoted stuff about the Muslims/Arabs and Palestinian terrorists. My mother and I left - quite distraught. Later, Mom complained to the congregation president who affirmed that they would not invite that rabbi back.

The shame is that any "man of God" turns to hate speech that divides rather than trying to heal.
