It's California all over again...
Last major election, California had the opportunity to unseat an unpopular governor (who has since become very popular). The democrats could have run a warted toad and still easily beaten the incumbent administration.

Then came the democratic primary and the two democratic candidates went after each other like rabid dogs.

By the time the election rolled around, almost everyone I knew who originally would have voted against the incumbent party, now decided he was better than the alternative.

You all know what happened.

It's happening again.

Obama shouldn't be releasing photos of Wright with Bill Clinton... it doesn't boost Obama up, it ONLY brings Clinton down.

Clinton should have stepped up and defended Obama against the Wright idiocy.

Neither candidate should talk about MI and FL and both only say that they hope the DNC and the state can work it out so the voters get their say.

They could have run a good campaign that distinguished their differences, argued about the issues, but then showed solidarity when either is attacked.... it would have boosted the candidates and thus, the party.

It's funny to me that I am even typing this, since I will not vote for the CLinton in the GE due to her war vote; however, I do not think that Obama should get there by trying to tie his albatross around her neck as well... or using some other idiotic tactic, such as standing by while people go on and on about when Lewinsky was in the white house at the same time she was. It was none of business then and it is still none of our business.

3. Arnold was no Arnold
He was coming off incredibly low approval ratings and a mid term referrendem that completely failed.

What they gave Arnold was a chance... a chance to stay above the fray and look like the positive force in the race.

If they had joined forces against him and campaigned in a style that highlighted their differences, while continuing to stand together against Arnold, Arnold WOULD have lost.

4. I watched that race (from outside the States, to truthful)
And both dems seemed very weak, regardless of how they attempted to disembowel each other. Arnold won because he's a natural politician with Clintonian (WJC, not HRC) instincts. If he weren't a whore (my apologies to any sex workers out there) and a pig (my apologies to our porcine friends), he might actually be useful to the state/nation.

5. I watched from inside CA.
And he started off losing to a generic Dem and as the primary drew on and the attack ads flew back and forth, his approval ratings and standing in the polls went up, up, up.

I BARELY remember any ads FOR Arnold... I only remember the dem on dem attacks AND the one weak ad the dems came out with of Arnold saying over and over again George W Bush
