Is this Rev. Wright sitting next to Hillary at Bill's "I have sinned" prayer breakfast?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/clinton/stories/ministers091298.htm

With tearing eyes and a trembling voice, President Clinton succeeded yesterday in convincing a room full of religious leaders that he was genuinely sorry about his affair with Monica S. Lewinsky and embarrassed about the way he handled it. One after another, ministers, rabbis and imams left the White House prayer breakfast saying they were moved by the sight of the most powerful man in the world humbling himself so thoroughly before them.

Dozens of those who spoke afterward said they were confident that the speech marked a turning point on Clinton's road to personal salvation. Even many who had once been reluctant to forgive the president set aside any concerns they had about being used to provide moral cover and conveyed their approval.

28. Might Be. But Based On The Curvature And Where The Handles Appear, I'm Still Not Convinced.
I'm not against it not being him either though, since there are definitely multiple similarities. But even with the head angle taken into consideration, the handles still seem to be much higher up on the frames than the other pair, and it seems that on the one on the right, the handle starts above the downward curvature, whereas the pair on the left it is in the middle of the curvature.

But I can't say for sure that's not him, but then it doesn't much matter to me either. His being there that day is so irrelevant to this story it isn't even funny. I'm amazed what people will run with and latch onto. Him being at the whitehouse in the past isn't going to do a thing to change the minds of people that found his words and sermons offensive, and it doesn't even in the slightest way implicate the clintons nor deem them to be hypocrites, as some ignoramuses have charged. This whole "he went to the WH with Bill!" story just totally makes zero sense to me as it relates to the controversy. It ain't going to change the minds or mindset of anyone.

You can eviscerate another human being on the basis of excerpts from one sermon, but you are totally dis-interested in any other day in the same man's life. Do you judge yourself the same way?

Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Biography

Considered a preacher par excellence, the Reverend Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. was born on September 22, 1941, in Philadelphia. His parents, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Sr. and Dr. Mary Henderson Wright, were his earliest influences, instilling in him the possibility of balancing the intellectual with the spiritual. Armed with this philosophical upbringing, Wright has pastored Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ since 1972, seeing its membership grow from eighty0seven adult members to a congregation of nearly 10,000. Wright's early education took place in Philadelphia's public schools. From there, he went on to earn a B.A. and an M.A. from Howard University, an M.A. from the University of Chicago and a doctorate in divinity from United Theological College, where he studied under the eminent Samuel DeWitt Proctor.

Wright takes seriously not only the call to worship but also the call to take action as mandated by the Gospel. Under his leadership, Trinity adopted the motto "Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian" and has set out to make activism within and on behalf of the African American community a key aspect of the church's mission. An outspoken community leader, Wright has been vocal in making once-taboo issues, such as AIDS, a priority within the African American church leadership and service. His commitment to political activism, coupled with his dedication to the African American sermonic tradition, has made him a highly sought-after speaker nationally and internationally.

Wright is the recipient of numerous awards, including three honorary doctorates and three presidential commendations. An accomplished musician and author, Wright has written four books, numerous articles and countless sermons and was named one of Ebony's top fifteen preachers. In addition to national and international ministry, Wright serves on several boards of directors and committees. Married to the Reverend Ramah Reed Wright, Wright has five children and three grandchildren.

Wright was interviewed by The HistoryMakers on January 11, 2002.

And do you really think that sitting next to someone at one breakfast is the same as being friends with that person, having them marry you and your spouse, baptize your children and attend that person's church for 20 years?

56. Ummmm, anyone else here wear glasses?
Because I do, and you need to buy NEW ones every so often. I think it is quite likely that since this photo was taken, he got new glasses. Frames go out of style or get broken that could explain why they don't appear to be the same. Besides what does it matter, I don't think style of glasses is a deciding factor in who someone is or isn't.

Hillary Doesn't Deny Camp Pushing Wright Story

Asked Whether Advisers Are Pushing Wright Story, Hillary Demurs
By Greg Sargent - March 20, 2008, 6:26PM

I missed this earlier, but it must be flagged. Asked about today's big story that her advisers are telling the super-dels that the Wright controversy should make them nervous about Obama's hopes in the general, Hillary demured:

When asked, Clinton ignored the Wright portion of the question and said "well my campaign has been making the case that I am the most electable that I have said that for a year or more that I am the person best able to make the challenges that our country faces as commander in chief."

When Clinton was then asked specifically if her campaign was pushing the Wright story -- she shrugged and took the next question, ignoring the reporter.

Subsequently, however, Hillary spokesperson Doug Hattaway offered some clarification to ABC News: "She was and is unaware of anyone on the campaign pushing issue with superdelegates. She wants anyone who is talking to superdelegates to focus on our message, which is that she's best prepared to be president and beat John McCain."

It's worth noting that when ABC asked the spokesperson whether Hillary was calling on advisers to refrain from using Wright as part of their argument, he said: "Since she is unaware of anyone doing that, I assume it hasn't come up."

*************************

And then there's this...

49. Hillary Clinton and her campaign watched as it happened and say nothing.
The photo of Bill and Wright will serve her as a reminder that playing Judah is not a Democratic Trai, when she goes back to the Senate. For the Clintons to personally have known Rev. Wright and for neither to have stood up and acknowledge that fact was digusting. They, in essence, sat on the sideline to watch his destruction while not giving a fuck....when they could have objected to the demonization of Rev. Wright as he was there for their hour in need. As usual, the Clintons' silence was due to what it meant to them politically....which means they have no scruples and anyone and anything is expandable. Think about it.

Now this photo of Wright sitting next to Hillary at the prayer breakfast....means that much more, i.e., that they didn't just shake hands.

I find this beyond forgiveness; what Hillary has allowed to be done in her quest for power.

38. Obviously, Hillary must be a racist if this is true.

48. No, it is just astounding that Sen. Clinton sat by while Rev. Wright was given the Willie Horton
treatment. Now, you can question her motives, but you cannot question the fact that she must have known all along that this is the same distinguished Rev. Wright who sat next to her as she listened to her husband talk about finding redemption after his public fall from grace.

Moreover, she surely knew that Sen. Obama went to Trinity when she made the "I take him at his word" response to the question of whether or not she believed that Sen. Obama is secretly a Muslim.

Sen. Hillary Clinton: Anything to Win.

55. Again... trying to keep this thing going... won't work... AS soon as...
the sermons of other pastors endorsing these candidates comes out, Wright will look like a Saint.

57. The Clintons aren't silent for this reason... alone. Just wait til...
core democrats get a load of the church she attends. It's coming soon. Obama did best to get this behind him. Rezko went away. Wright will too.

Hillary's tax papers are out there... still to be scrutinized.
Hillary's religion has yet to be unveiled. That will come soon along with McCain's. Huffingtonpost has brought one out on Front page.
Hillary's and her husband's donor lists have yet to be explored.

58. So what?
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 02:55 PM by Beacool
It's just like the Rezko photo, presidents and first ladies meet thousands of people. The Clintons did not have a 20 year relationship with Wright.

What's your point?

71. Does this really matter?
Not in the least, my dear forensic investigators. Other than maybe it's fun.
