On HIllary's attending prayer groups sponsored by The Fellowship: Another point of view
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 08:31 AM by cali
Just as I think the Wright brouhaha is large a pile of stinking bullshit, so too do I think the outrage about Hillary Clinton attending prayer groups sponsored by Coe's Fellowship, is largely bullshit. She is not a member of The Fellowship and none of her policy stances reflect the right wing ideology of that group, that I can discern.

I have a lot of problems with The Fellowship, but Hillary's attending prayer meetings strikes me as first and foremost a political calculation on her part. And that's what politicians do. Make political calculations, particularly politicians with a long held goal of running for President. I don't like the political calculation she made here because I do think this is a dangerous religious group that has welded itself to the body politic, and I think Hillary has made a big mistake identifying herself with such a group, but she's not more a stealth right wing religious nut than Obama is a stealth blact separatist radical out to get Whitey.

We are creating grossly distorted cariactures of both candidates. Both sides are guilty. It's not going to stop, and it's way too easy to be sucked into the cycle. I find the attacks in this arena particularly icky.

No good can come from it.

Oh, and while I'm at it, there's no evidence at all that Hillary's campaign had anything to do with passportgate. Just because "opportunity" knocks, doesn't mean you have to open the door.

1. Thanks, cali. I was afraid to post this theory on Clinton.
How better to find out what Repukes are up to than to join their
weekly prayer group?

And if they didn't do their homework and come prepared
to discuss the Biblical passages, Clinton would know it,
wouldn't she?

I figured people would call her cold and calculating again, so I
posted nothing on this topic.

Thanks again, cali.

And here's something for your files...

5. Hadn't heard about this latest "issue," or about the outrage.
Guess I should count my blessings.

I'm not going to bust on a politician for praying, or for pretending to pray.
