More Obama Hypocrisy-> He Told Republicans to "fire" Trent Lott

Earlier in the week we learned that the Senator from Illinois called for CBS to fire radio host Don Imus after his racist rant last year. Now we learn that while he was in the State Senate of Illinois he called for Trent Lott's resignation at the end of 2002 . Lott attended the 100th birthday party of Sen. Strom Thurmond of South Carolina. Thurmond ran for President of the United States in 1948 on the Dixiecrat (or States' Rights) ticket. Lott said: "When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We’re proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems."

WASHINGTON – While Sen. Barack Obama said he couldn't throw over his friend and pastor of 20 years for racially charged and divisive hate speech, he had no trouble calling for the head of Sen. Trent Lott, the Republican Senate majority leader, for embracing a colleague with a segregationist past on his 100th birthday.

I don't believe in giving anyone a pass on race regardless whom they are or what color they are. That is why I agreed Imus and Lott should have stepped down. I also think Obama is giving Wright a pass as well.

That Imus did was personally attack black women by degrading them and call them out of their names. He had a history of doing that. The Rutgers womens basketball team was not the first time he used personal comments to degrade someone.

Trent Lott, strongly supported a segregationist! Strom Thurmon was part of an organization that slaughtered countless numbers of black people.

What Rev. Wright said in his speeches forced America to look in the mirror!

He said a few stupid things, but nothing as offensive. Not to mention Wright's comments were not in a major public arena originally, Imus' and Lotts' were. Imus had repeated offenses and Lott was in a major government leadership role.

I just watched a bunch of snippets of his sermons including the "God Damn America" and "Chickens Coming Home to Roost" and he is far from hateful. In fact he is a loving pastor who loves his parishioners and his God and Jesus. What the media did to him this week was take snippets out of context and smear this good man.

I wish his church or a 527 would buy ad time and put some of the snippets I saw tonight on TV. I'm not even all that religious but if I was in Chicago I think I'd love to go to that church!

Thurmond was running to keep African-Americans segregated and down. And Lott damn well knew it! Imus used race as a sick stupid joke.
