How Far Have We Fallen?
ask yourselves that

when mike huckabee....MIKE HUCKABEE, people...is defending and hailing barack obama. i mean, MIKE HUCKABEE. I'm not jumping on the barack bandwagon but he did something very historic yesterday and many people across the board who are eager and hungry to have a national discussion on race are willing to embrace it.

and people here, our fellow democrats, are citing newsmax or sean hannity for their sources

lemme clue you in on newsmax, sean hannity and the like. THE ENEMY OF MY ENEMY IS NOT MY FRIEND. they are YOUR ENEMY STILL. these people hate you, they would toss you into internment camps if they had the chance. they hate everything you stand for, everything you believe in, everything you want in this world. they are the enemies of freedom and enablers of fascism. they despise you and everything this country stands for.

many of us who haven't sided with either camp, I'm sure I'm not the only one, are looking on in disgust at this.

seriously, ask yourselves. when mike huckabee, the national review, and many others across the spectrum are saluting barack obama and we're still divided and using sean hannity to beat each other with, ask yourselves

how far have we fallen?

"For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?

2. agree. huck defended hillary when people were ranting about her choking up...
Edited on Wed Mar-19-08 11:50 PM by annie1
in N.H. He said 'we're all tired, we're fatigued, cut her some slack'. i don't think he has an agenda, he just likes to stick up for the underdog sometimes. sorry, i know that's not really the point of your post but i just love it when he sticks up for people.

3. I agree
I don't think hillary was playing "the woman card."

I think its sad that you know, and obama is the frontrunner still, our frontrunner gave a truly historic speech on race. and we have people using NEWSMAX and SEAN HANNITY

I can't think of anyone I despise more than sean hannity. he's worse than rush because people KNOW rush is insane. but people give hannity the benefit of the doubt.

sean hannity is our ENEMY. he is an enemy of america and a hater of freedom.

the day I give praise to anything sean hannity says is the day I put a gun to my own head and pull the trigger.

Edited on Thu Mar-20-08 12:00 AM by annie1

24. He would have been a formidable opponent in the GE
Economic populism + social conservatism would win elections in this country.

5. good point - and I think it is part of his point too
Noone is raised up by nasty behavior. Huckabee (and for that matter any of us) raises the discourse when he is real and kind. He may have gotten a few digs in, but mostly people will remember Huckabee as a decent guy. (He's wacko on other fronts, but can still be decent to his rivals)

7. Sadly, he's been far more decent to his rivals than many here
I never thought I'd say this, but it's true.

9. Yeah
I agree, I disagree with huckabee on everything

but I have to say he showed a lot of dignity and class for defending obama and wright, and to really seem to understand the discussion of race in america. he didn't excuse wright or let him off the hook, and he didn't excuse obama for standing by his pastor. but he said the main thing, "I understand."

I honestly admit I was blown away by his interview on mornin' joe.

its just shocking to me that mike huckabee is defending obama and our fellow democrats are parroting sean hannity and newsmax.

But I doubt that most Obama supporters felt she was faking it either.

Everyone loves to pay attention to the noisy and obnoxious few.

Beyond that, I think Huckabee has integrity, which is why he defended Hillary there and is defending Obama now.

how would a "racist, murderer, monster" actually care enough to have real tears? b/c that's what hillary is being called here these days. and it isn't just a few. even the mod just suggested hillary was behind the wright scandal.

14. By an extremely small group of people; get some perspective
I don't hold that view, nor do most of the Obama supporters.

15. oh, i just edited to include that i'm not sure it's just a few...
maybe the murderer part, but blaming her for a possible loss for Obama in the GE? and everyone jumping on the bandwagon saying it's already her fault, the mod saying it's not unlikely she started the wright scandal, dunno.

17. He demanded "Act of God" be stricken from legal documents in Ark,
He said that the God he believed in would never send a hurricane or cause flooding and that the legal premise was unfounded and unconstitutional... I thought that was sort of cool. It showed he wasn't immune to all forms of hypocrisy and that was hopeful...

(Of course, there was probably dirty money or dirtier hookers involved in the back story but the spin was beautiful)

19. I agree the stuff is getting pretty petty on both sides
In terms of Huckabee I think gravity said it best, I respect him, but could never vote for him because of his views. He seems like an honest guy, maybe too honest (and too liberal) to be a Republican.

Back to the topic of beating each other senseless, I'll be interested to see what happens when the nomination is settled. My guess is whichever side wins, many who supported the other candidate will walk away.

21. I think my main point was lost
its not whether I think mike huckabee is a nice guy or not

its that here we have a republican, the enemy, defending our front runner and one of our own

meanwhile, you look at our party and its a fucking warzone. I mean, people here are using SEAN HANNITY as a source against obama

SEAN FUCKING HANNITY?!?! whats that noise???

there needs to be some perspective brought back because this nomination is tunnel vision at this point. everything said and done here will be used in THE REAL RACE against us.

the republicans are sitting around laughing at us. and we're enabling it. I mean, how far have we fallen when we'll take sean hannity's opinion over our own?

sickening. absolutely sickening.

Not exactly a high bar there.
