I refuse to listen to another Obama speech
unless I am home alone, because I hate to cry in public.
And it happens every time.
Hell, it even happens when I watch him give a speech that I've already heard before!!

The man just moves me. Can't help it!
And I can't believe how good, down to the bone, honesty feels.
What a totally novel approach!

And so long overdue.

There is not a single doubt in my mind that he is the right person, and this is the moment.

How exciting!

Before the convention speech, I had barely heard about Obama. I told my daughter that night that Obama would be president someday. Let that time be now. I believe what he says too. But he can't do it alone. He's going to need a supportive senate and house to get his vision to work.

It would probably be wise to have a few co-Presidents, so
that all Obama would have to do is give a lot of speeches, and make people cry and faint. After that, his co-Presidents could do anything they wanted, because Obama would have control over the people. Sheesh, people, we are electing a President not American Idol.

I'll vote for him if he's the nominee, but I certainly don't see him as any less of a "politician" than Hillary Clinton. He is as dishonest and capable of dirty tricks as Clinton is accused of being. He can give a speech about bringing people together and leave out women and GLBT people. His speeches are eloquent, but also calculated and self-serving.

Neither candidate is perfect, but either is preferable to Insane McCain.

He's OK, so is Clinton; this election is too serious to decide on "feelings," which, to those of use who depend heavily on our brains for decision-making, is a reason to be leery of the Obama's cult-like followers. An amazing number of Obama supporters on the NYTimes blogs, base their support upon the way Obama makes them feel and are quite hateful in their comments about Clinton.

Thank you for supporting your candidate without trashing the other Democrat in the race!

(I didn't mean to be critical of you, Hisown. I'm just dismayed at the number of comments on other blogs, along the lines of, "The people who can't see the magic of Obama and aren't totally moved to tears by his speeches are racists and have a dark, evil, empty place where their hearts should be.")

22. That happened to me many years ago
When I was a student at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (back in the 70s, when it was liberal), my professor of Christian Ethics, Henlee Barnette, dimmed the lights for class and no one said a word. There was a tape deck down front, and without a word he played MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech. I (and the entire class) was moved to tears. Not a word was said until the next class. I still get the same reaction when I read the text of that speech, even though I virtually know it by heart. My eyes well up and the tears began to flow.

Funny, Obama ALMOST did that to me with his convention speech. The one this week, not so much.

I'm accustomed to incoherent jabbering from Bush for over 7 years now and I'll be damned if I'm going to put up with eloquent, timely, historic, ispirit-lifting, and sure-footed prose from Obama.

Out of the question.

52. That's really funny, the way you said "campaign staffer' and then put the word 'much'
on the end of it, followed by a question mark. Even though, in that context, the word 'much' is supposed to be used as an adverb
and be attached to, therefore, a verb and not a noun.

Still, it's incredible the way you come up with these zingers. Much.
