Obama: Is Russ getting close?

Posted: Wednesday, March 19, 2008 9:09 AM by Mark Murray

Russ Feingold came closer to endorsing Obama during an editorial board meeting with the "Feingold said he voted for Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., in the Wisconsin presidential primary, and is ‘highly inclined’ to cast his superdelegate vote for Obama at the Democratic National Convention because Obama won Wisconsin. The past few weeks have been bad news for Democrats, Feingold said, mentioning problems between the campaigns of Obama and U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.”

“Obama’s speech Tuesday about racial issues raised by his Chicago pastor was ‘very convincing,’ Feingold said. ‘He pushed it away pretty good today, but it’s going to keep coming back.’”

Looks like it's not "Official" thou.

Sen. Russ Feingold said today that he voted for Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama in this week's Wisconsin primary and indicated that he likely will vote for Obama's nomination as one of the state's "superdelegates" to the Democratic convention this summer.

"I really do think that at the gut level, this is a chance to do something special" for the nation, Feingold said, adding that electing Obama represents "an enormous historical opportunity for America and for our relationship with the world."

Both Feingold and Sen. Herb Kohl declined to endorse either Obama or his rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, before Tuesday's primary. Feingold said he believes there is a "presumptuousness" to such endorsements and that they are "largely silly and don't work."

But when it comes to selecting the nominee at this summer's convention, Feingold said, "I said I would be highly likely to vote for anybody who did very, very well in Wisconsin. And as I see it, somebody won 62 out of 72 counties and all the congressional districts. I'm highly likely to vote for that person."

~end.

I never really got what he had against Edwards.

He should endorse him in an effort to snuff out the Wright story which is already dying as we speak.
