I am ruined
after finally hearing Obama's speech today on race. I am ruined for any other candidate. Perhaps ever.

This is the President I want. This is the President this country needs and deserves after the last 7+ years of division, degradation and decline.

If I can't have Barack Obama as my President, if somehow the unthinkable happens and we lose this golden moment, I will be inconsolable.

"This time ..."

They're inextricably linked, since the 12/12 decision was only effective because the counting was stopped by the Saturday injunction.

50. I mean I literally
missed 2 days of work. I'm not, by nature, a screamer, but deep within my being I KNEW that this was a seismic shift for the future of our constitutional democracy.

Shortly after Bush's inauguration, I made the comment to a friend during lunch that I fully expected some "event" would occur that would lead to a serious curtailment of our civil liberties. Then, when 911 happened, it really took months for me to connect the dots, but I intuitively started printing off articles that I wanted to keep for posterity -- in case they became unavailable online.

So, here we are at yet another crossroads. I actually feared that all was lost after 2004. Damn Obama for giving me hope! But, this is really it. This time ...

Edited on Thu Mar-20-08 12:11 AM by krkaufman
(however sad that is) ... because I felt that if they were willing to steal the Presidency, as they obviously had from my perspective, then I knew we were in for trouble. I just had no clue how much.

p.s. Don't get your hopes up too high. Change isn't easy, and, as Obama said, it won't come with one election or one candidate.

21. I guess I do. Thesis > Anti-thesis > Synthesis.
I honestly have to say that I hear this man voicing my own thoughts about the frustrations of false dichotomies. And I can't tell you how often I've listened to someone delivering somekind of absolute, "This is this and that is that - end of story," and I'm thinking: No it's not, what about . . ., and what if . . . . and maybe . . . . 20. No I don't
I already voted! I voted for Edwards before he threw in the towel. Why do I need to choose between two people I really don't care for as much as I did Edwards? I will vote for the Dem in the GE... there is no reason whatsoever to make a choice now... and there's not enough difference between them to decide, imho. This whole "fencers" speak smacks of RW talking points to me. I'm a free American... this week anyway... and I am not required to decide between other people after I've already voted and cannot vote again.

Extremely Wealthy Fascists have set up this entire primary using 'Divide and Conquer.' BO may or may not be the nominee. If he isn't, are you willing to support the Dem nominee or are you going to say Hello Prez McCain.

There are many smart people out there saying BO is NOT electable. Politics is finnicky...and cruel...and that goes for politicians as well. You sound new to politics....I went thru Watergate. Never thought I would see our nation so close to fascism.

With every passing day, I blush to think I once attacked him as an empty suit.

We've seen a light, a new hope and there's no way I can support turning back to the old. Neoliberals and neoconservatives did great harm to this country. It's time to redefine things and start on a new path.

After his speech yesterday, I really feel like America would be crazy to let this opportunity pass us by. If Obama is unable to regain the momentum and Clinton ends up getting the nomination I will vote for her, but a part of me will hope she doesn't win so Obama gets another chance. It would break my heart if he never gets the chance to be president.
