What I get from Obamas speech .
First off I don't know why he got a televised speech rather than a press conference but I suppose that's beside the point .

What he did was shame the TV media into stopping their continued re-play of Wright's rantings , this was his main point and function . It was a friday dump to begin with and ran into monday .

Trouble is so many black people coming to Wrights defense said that a lot of black churches have these same sort of speeches and in this respect they have set in the minds of the wary racist to now be on the lookout for such chuches , think about this before you react .

I really did not ned a history lesson , I have been around well long enough to know about and have heard and read these very same words many times before . JFK and even more RFK and MLK have said these things many years ago and yet nothing has changed .

Far be it from me but every politician is a game player and well a politician and nothing closer to the working class hero than the man on the moon .

If it is the case that since Obama is black and because of this he his free from attack then the very same should apply to Hillary being a female . I say this because this has been amde the issue , not by me but by the media and the people who feel we are now making history. Then let history be made fairly and for all .

Here is your history in a nut shell , the entire US economy is going straight to hell in a hand basket and there is now nothing Hillary or Obama can or will do about this , there is your history , it doesn't matter what color you are anymore .

You tell me then if this were not true as far as the general mindset in this country as far as racism goes that it took the exposure of Wright before anything came to a head regarding racism .

I know this country and how screwed up it has always been as far as race has been concerned and I knew it would only be a matter of time before someone or something brought race into the picture . Up until this last week it has been completey avoided .

This is the point I was making . However you and others like you leap out and attack me for telling the simple truth of this counties racial madness .

I get an ear wax kit and swarmy remarks and I will tell all of you one thing . You have proven you are children and cannot accept the truth even if it bit you in the ass . I did not make the rules or create the racial situation we have to deal with . It's there whether you or I like it or not .

You people can't even live up to the words of your own hero and you have proven it right here . You hear Obama's speeches and read his books yet not one of you put into practice what Obama has been telling you , it goes in one ear and out the other and THIS !!! is why not one damn thing will ever change . Do you understand that ???????????

I baited people like you and you took the bait and exposed yourselves , you see how easy this was .

Maybe you need to take some of Obama's words to heart there. And ya know what? I've seen your woe-is-me posts around here when you want sympathy, but you're now baiting DUers? You should be ashamed of yourself, and I'm done wasting time with you. Bye.

13. I don't post for sympathy , I reply to posts I can relate to
I am in this on my own . My posts are there to relate to others who face similar problems so they can voice their experience too

I want to see how the Obama supporters are willing to put into practice what they see in Obama . It has nothing to do with being democratic it has to do with people telling the truth and practicing what they preach .

There is truth in everything I say , if you can't handle truth then be done with me , look into yourself for shame for being so easily put into the attack mode and a personal attack mode at that .

I did not come here and reply to one of your posts and attack , you came to one of mine .

3. You seem to have some serious issues... get a grip
Edited on Tue Mar-18-08 12:13 PM by Johnny__Motown
Yes the economy is in bad shape. We can get through it. The great depression did not destroy our country and this recession won't either.

Maybe you didn't need a history lesson but others did.

JFK RFK and MLK said similar things, but you can't believe that nothing has changed. We are nowhere near where we were in the 60s. Many things have changed and Barack is the one to help them change even more. (maybe you do need a history lesson if you think things have not changed)

He got a televised speech because he is just that good. Any news network hat did not cover it fucked up.

9. Maybe nothing was done over the speeches
by JFK, RFK and MLK is because they were all killed before they could act on their ideas.

10. Don't worry there will still be attacks
He's not free of them. Already people are spinning the speech to mean things that it didn't so yeah the attacks aren't over because he is black.

The economy. I'm also very worried. I saw one poster dismiss the economy saying the great depression didn't destroy this country and neither will this recession. but thats not necessarily true. It depends how bad the recession goes. Hungry people don't stay hungry for long.

I haven't heard much about how Hillary or Obama plan to deal with the economy probably because they really don't know. Its in such a hole. I have heard obama say and soundly I might add that when you're digging a hole the first thing you have to do is stop the digging. and that is true first we gotta stop digging ourselves in deeper. Getting out of Iraq will help. Balancing the budget. Making a more fair tax code that benefits the middle class. Finding alternatives to Gas dependency. But just doing those things will only stop the digging they won't get us out of the hole.

Now my opinion. Clintons had 8 years already and they didn't get us out of the hole. Even when they supposedly balanced the budget the national debt was still increasing. Now how exactly is a balanced budget still producing debt? never did the debt decrease. So I don't hold much hope on the clintons providing a solution we've already been there and it already failed. McCain obviously wants to stay with Bush's failed policies so he is a no. The only one left is Obama. now maybe he won't do much better. but atleast he will be a new idea and a new way of doing things. Everybody else has already failed its time to try something new!.

11. The only way is to control the banking and corporations
And if anyone tries to do that , especially in the new world of the global economy or high crimes I'm afraid that person will end up dead .

This is the sad truth about it . It is only the people who have the control to end this grip and even then they will suffer the effects by trying . Something like a long running national strike and this will not happen . Now many don't have to try , they are forced not to consume since many are down to their last dollar .
