Endless Repeats of 20 Seconds of Wright = the Dean Scream
This is exactly what was done to Dean, only this time it isn't even the candidate's own voice. Dean should call for an end to this outrageous media manipulation.

1. It is the man's own words, and Obama is guilty by association
20 years spent in that hate-filled church and he never uttered a peep...UNTIL it became politically inconvenient to have Wright flying along on the campaign jet.

all things being equal, i go with what they say.

however, if there is more evidence to support your side i can change my mind but there is not thus far.

and you have no idea who Reverend Wright is, or what he has been preaching for the last 20 years. You have no idea, nor do you care, about this man's work though-out his lifetime. And what is worse you choose, to demean and condemn not one, but two human beings on the basis of a sound byte. Whatever it takes, eh?

22. Or, how about Hagee? Didn't he say the Pope was the Antichrist?
or something like that? That'll go over well with Catholics, no?

This was a guy that McCain invited to be on stage with him. It's a lot different than attending a sermon by somebody that said something controversial.

52. Did Hagee host events for McCain?
As McClurkin did for Obama, by Obama's personal request?
And more importantly, are our ethics now set by the GOP bar? If they can gay bait, so can we, is that it? If they have Fundies we get some too?
All the preachers making problems make me think of that verse from that book, ummm, the Bible, that says we judge a tree by the fruit it bears. Evil trees grow division.
Are we still glad to have brought 'Faith and Family' and religious based minority baiting into the Party to win SC?
I'd love to have lunch with Jerimiah, I understand his lexicon and what he means. McClurkin and Caldwell are another matter. Obama just seems to disagree with them all, while paying for them to say what they say, just as he is against Iraq but keeps funding it.

Here is yet another chance for Obama to grow a pair of Democratic balls and build a big wall between his campaign and policy and his own religious dogmas and affiliations. He should have done it when McClurkin did his pander act. He should have rejected him, his message, and promised no future events as candidate or as President would allow for the slander or holding up for blame of any minority group, under any circumstances. But in fact he refused to do so. Now he owns the Preachers, whicn is sad really. He refused to flatly reject those who ridicule GLBT people and remove them from the campaign.

for years and I haven't seen the kind of attacks Obama's been getting the last few days. Everytime we saw those guys make bigoted, hate-filled statements, I didn't see the media ask any Republican to denounce them. But anytime they need them there they are right next to them.

57. It is different when a pastor endorses a candidate.
By attending and contributing to a particular pastor, it is really the candidate giving somewhat of an endorsement to the pastor. Failing to recognize this and to brush it off is a mistake.

Clearly, if someone supports a particular candidate, you do not have to agree with every one of the candidate's opinions. The same goes for pastors. You do not have to agree with every thing the pastor says, as well. It is just beyond my comprehension that if you disagree with the pastor a lot, that you don't find a new church more closely aligned with your personal beliefs.

And, it is different when you are born in a church and have to go because your parents do, than when you are an adult and choose which one of hundreds of churches you could attend. I say this because of the people that say "I was raised as Catholic, but that doesn't mean I believe...." They are similarly arguing disingenously, IMHO.

5. The media are so lazy on this. Why don't they go and investigate Bush's
preacher, or the preacher that just endorsed McCain, or that reverend Moon guy that invites republicans to his freaky rituals? This is so pitiful and all we can do is watch in wonder and weep at the injustice because the machine is too big for the few of us to defeat. But, hey, we won't stop trying.

29. The "Dean Scream" happened before he had won any delegates..... if...
..it would've happened after more than 80% of the delegates were apportioned and he had a prohibitive lead, it would not have doomed his candidacy.

Hillary needed the Wright stuff to happen in the days leading up to Feb 5th.....

...that it happened NOW does not help Hillary much.... and does not hurt Obama as much.

It's all about timing.

That's why I think it was the OBAMA campaign that wanted this to "come out" now. It's the perfect time for them....

- Too late to help Hillary for March 4
- Too early to help Hillary much for PA
- WAY too early to help McCain much

Dirty laundry WILL get out in EVERY campaign. The key to winning it to make sure it gets out at a favorable time for the candidate.... and the Obama folks are either VERY lucky or VERY good to have this come out when it did.

44. The difference is Dean did the scream...Obama is not his former pastor
I'm actually glad they keep repeating this crap because it is backfiring. People are getting tired of the media trying to link a former pastor to Obama through what I call omnipotent osmosis.

Obama is going the be the nominee, based entirely on the mathematical impossibility that Hillary Clinton can win. All Obama has to do with McCain is bring up Hagee and other wingnuts backing him that would alien Catholics, Jews, Blacks, Women and all those who would be disgusted with Hagee's message.

Obama has already talked about who Wright and he don't agree on everything and anyone who is honest knows that what a preacher says in a service doesn't mean that everyone attending agrees with everything they said.

The only people trying to keep this alive are right-slanted media puppets and the Hillary Clinton campaign. It's not going to stick with most voters.
