All this focus on Rev. Wright is starting to make me think that Obama himself must have never said anything controversial. Obama has been an elected official for 10 years. He has been a law professor. He has been a community organizer. Surely these are all public positions. Has anyone actually heard that Obama has said anything in his 20+ years of public service that could be considered hate speech? People are acting like Obama should be held personally responsible for every word his pastor spoke for the last 30 years, but is anyone actually looking at what Obama has said himself? So, he used the expression "Audacity of Hope." Did he use this expression in the context of hate speech? If not, then it is COMPLETELY irrelevant that his pastor used this term. Really, so what. Are we going to start sending spies into people's churches to videotape what goes on there. So Rev. Wright was over the top and wasn't very diplomatic in his speech. So what. Who cares. The people of Illinois elected Obama to public office - apparently the fact that Obama attended Trinity United Church of Christ wasn't the MOST important issue for them. ALL this focus on Obama's pastor just lets me know that Obama himself must have always been focused on his message of hope and unity. Why don't we all go back to focusing on what the candidate is actually saying? Oh, before all people were saying was that all Obama could do was give speeches as if words mean nothing, and now all of a sudden, the words of some third party are all that people think matter. It is ridiculous.
