Screw damage control! Obama should attack!
Edited on Mon Mar-17-08 12:22 AM by anonymous171
Obama, instead of going on the defensive, should instead go full offensive and attack Hillary on transparency issues and on her tax returns. He needs to milk this for all it's worth and attack her relentlessly until she releases her returns. Hopefully he will do it in some inflammatory way that will dominate the news cycle, pushing the wright problem to the back. My recommendation: Uncle Sam outfit.

5. That's the point. Attacking would deflect attention from his troubles.
The media will report anything, especially sensationalist BS like Obama or a surrogate at a press conference dressed in an Uncle Sam outfit.

15. RIght. It'll only get worse for him. He's really bad impromptu.
Particularly when he's lying or trying to slam somebody.

6. Troubles?
Lordy, how spoilt Americans make mountains of molehills?

Spend one hour in Iraq and you will come back knowing what real trouble is.

12. Yes we would. It would also help if MSM devoted more than 3% of air time to it.

16. Upon reconsideration, I think that would be a bad idea.
But a well known surrogate would do nicely.

7. The Wright story is almost off the News cycle but for some reason
is alive and well here. Mostly because about three posters keep posting Newsmax articles.

then sit back and smile. Trust me. ;)

Edit to add: I'm listening to his delicious, smart wife on CSPAN right now, wowing a segment of PA. And yesterday, Barack gave a great speech in IN.

He's 'doing' it. From the ground up. And I love it.

Because if he did, I would assume Hillary would make ads using Wright sermons in them.

13. She can't, neither can McCain. Only the 527s can do that.
Hillary and McCain have issues with religion... BIG issues.

She needs to go. No other way about it.

34. If Hillary keeps up her kitchen sink strategy, it's only going to hurt her.
If she keeps it up, the party leaders will have no choice but to intervene. She is vile, and not just to posters on a message board.

just responding, and then raising the discourse to what people actually give a shit about.

No body ggves a shit about wright.

People do care that their kids have a chance to go to college, have health care, aren't drafted, don't live in a declining nation, and can afford to eat.

31. No, No and NO
He is gaining a lot more respect and sympathy from people by not attacking a democratic opponent. If this was McCain, it would be a different story. He is not gaining or loosing voters on this, he is just switching voters. You will start to see polls going up and down few percentage points because of that change.

April 22nd is more than a month away and that is almost an eternity in politics. Obama doesn't need to get negative, he needs to confront this thing head on and deal with it.
