In fact, 73% of the Rushies voted for Hermie's girl.

Don't tell him tho. He's plenty confused as it is.

13. No but that isn't the point. At how many water coolers was this discussed today?
And Obama has no real defense or explanation for two decades of supporting this guy instead of going to a church with a non-racist as pastor. After all, he is from a city of 3 million. It isn't hard to find a church that doesn't have a nutty racist at the helm there...

9. The "Obama has lower negatives" card increasingly becomes weaker as his negatives rise
And guess what happens to his 2-3 point better performance vs. McCain than Hillary once his negatives rise to a normal level for any candidate who wins the nomination (assuming he does)... :scared:

This will really hurt him in the general, though, when rethugs swiftboat him as a racist with ads. Splicing Wright and Obama will be crippling to Obama.

20. Obama's electability argument is going down the drain
It was always based on being untouched by the msm and rethugs. Now he has sustained some fire over this as well as the week before 3/4. He is damaged and his numbers in the McCain match ups will start to slip. How weak will he be after they really go all-out against him if we nominate him? :scared: He only runs 2-3 points better against McCain than a candidate the rethugs have attacked for 16 years.

45. Weak?
Really?

Barack Obama has won more states and more electoral delegates. He's won them in a primary season that has run longer than any in history. In case you forget, John Kerry was our presumptive nominee practically the day after he won Iowa. Kerry in no way faced the opposition that Barack Obama has - from members of his own party I might add. Mr. Obama has survived and remains the leading candidate. He will go into the election with a re-energized Democratic constituency and a public that has had it with the Republicans.

You are aware that so far, Democrats have out-voted Republicans in this primary, something like 3:1?

Barack Obama will be fine and will win the presidency. I only hope that you will join us when the time comes to vote.

57. What are you talking about?
That was a contentious primary with three of the top contenders winning at least five states on super Tuesday. Jackson stayed in it till the very end and managed to get over 1200 delegates to vote for him at the convention. Dukakis did not have an easy time and he was no beast.

As for the turnout, I don't know what you're referring to. Republicans outvoted Democrats in the general election by almost 8 million.

58. Facts
Edited on Sat Mar-15-08 04:04 AM by jackson_dem
Gore won a few states but his support wasn't much higher than Edwards. He benefited from being a son of the South. Edwards couldn't win in the South this time because he was getting 1% of the black vote and since he was running against one candidate whose husband won the South, and make no mistake about it she is associated with Bill in the eyes of many voters, and another who is getting 85-90% black support, which is crucial in the South.

Jackson ended with over 1,200 delegates. Clinton already has 1,500.

It is ironic you, correctly, say Dukakis did not have an easy time. So how do you reconcile that with the talk of Jackson not being "viable", which is used to hype Obama? How does a candidate who is not a viable presidential candidate become the front-runner after winning Michigan anyway?

Democratic turnout in 1988 was far higher than rethug turnout in the primaries.

You claimed earlier that this primary season has gone on longer than any in history. This is patently false, even if we assume you are referring to Democratic primaries in the primary era (which excludes 1968). The 1980 battle went to the convention floor, Dukakis's battle was long and tough even though he did better versus his opponents than Obama is doing against his, and Bill Clinton didn't clinch the nomination until he narrowly won California in June, although he was the presumptive nominee after winning New York in April due to a gaffe by Jerry Brown.

59. I meant the primary season kicked off earlier this year
Edited on Sat Mar-15-08 04:39 AM by blogslut
The date for the first ones moved up to January plus the candidates started actively campaigning earlier than I ever remember. This is what I meant as the longest primary season in history. Not false.

As for Jackson's non-viability, your logic confuses me. You're saying there is "talk" of Obama as not viable because Jesse Jackson was not viable? Who besides Bill Clinton has made this claim? How is that a viable claim? Because Bill Clinton said so?

The fact was, Mr. Jackson screwed himself by saying something even stupider and more insulting than Geraldine Ferraro did. His 1984 past came back to bite him in 1988. He hurt his campaign badly by his own words. He also neither denounced nor rejected Louis Farrakhan when the NOI leader put on effort to defend Jackson's (actual) racist statement.

I would like to see a link to these 1988 primary vote results please.

EDIT: For like making it better

They fear Obama so Hillary is their girl!

Shit if you want to know the latest attack from the Hillary cult and her bots, just tune into Hate radio!

You will hear it there first, then log onto DU and see the Hillbots following their leader Rush Limbaugh...err..Hillary...umm..well lets face it.

There isn't much difference, Pills and Hillary are united in their goal of destroying the only progressive in the race, Barack Obama.

The reich wing wants Hillary to win, then they turn the Rethug slime machine on her and McCain slithers his way into the White House.

Penn, Bill and Hillary are tools of the right wing haters. Period.
