Let me just say I was one of those who said Obama should let this blow over. However...
I think he has handled this whole Wright issue perfectly and will actually probably turn it into a positive. Originally I said he should just let it blow over because I still do not believe this issue is as major as the Ferraro comments or even the NAFTA troubles he had prior to Ohio. You're not seeing the wall-to-wall coverage like you did with those other problems, but he's doing a good job of defusing it before it actually becomes wall-to-wall coverage, which I guess is good.

Obama did what he needed to do and I'm glad he did it, even though if I were running his campaign I would've allowed the issue to just blow over. Now this will be done with by Monday and even though it will probably rear its ugly head again throughout this election cycle, the damage will not be severe at all.

Good job, Obama.

1. It's a case study in how to handle a Swiftboat attack. Obama is ready to lead all right.

2. He has learned from the Kerry swiftboating mistake
Kerry let it go for a long time before responding and by then it was too late. I like the way Obama is responding.

3. I stopped underestimating this cat after Iowa
whatever they think they got send it out. He can ignore it, handle it, return it and patronize it better than anyone I have seen since Kennedy.

13. Yeah now he gets to go on TV and talk about his deep and abiding love

for Jesus Christ his personal Lord and Saviour. so that he gets to bury the Muslim thing once and for all

He also gets to wink and nod to everyone who has sat in a pew and rolled his eyes at the preacher for going too far.

He also gets to remind everyone that he and his wife have been devout Christians faithfully going to Church together for 20 years (subliminally compared to the Clintons who . . .)

It is almost like it was scripted for them.

18. I underestimated him too coming from Dennis to Edwards
He has a way of doing it diplomatically and turning it positive,
but at the same time redirecting it back at his opponents.

If you remember Edwards and the unfair attacks on him,
I thought he handled them slowly and unsuccessfully.

My neighbor who watched him during the debates said
that is an ability she hasn't seen since Reagan. Who she
didn't like but recognized that ability.

What is this, the 50th horrible scandal that's guaranteed to end his candidacy? Color me unimpressed.

7. I hope there is STRONG BACKLASH on this.
As an atheist, I don't buy ANY "pastors" or "priests"
spewage.

I agree with most of what the minister said.

I believe he has a right to say it.

I'm glad American heard it.

I don't think Obama is responsible for it.

Is McCain responsible for the spewage of Hagel,
Robertson, VanImpe, et. al.?

Do people think that if a minister says
"God Damn", it will happen?

Wright's comments on racism and American imperialism were spot on!

and they realize they need to put the flames out swiftly. Hopefully it will work. Tonight will either make or break this campaign. There is a lot at stake here for Obama.

19. Well, we know he's not exactly retired these days
He can't be held accountable for any e-mails or strategies he conspires since
he is no longer a public servant.

He did compliment Hillary the other day and she thanked him.

15. I would rather this come out now instead of in the general election
Now, the Repugs can't say he is a Muslim. They were going to repeat his name over and over again to try to make people think he is a Muslim. NOw that won't work. YEAH they can repeat the Wright stuff but if Obama has guts he can show all the stuff that McCain's ridiculous "supporters" have said.

17. He doesn't say he is gonna try to get his taxes done by April 15th.
So the public might have a chance to see them after 6 years.

He will do fine and defuse this crap and flush this nonsense down the toilet.
Unlike Hillary whose closet is still locked and filled with skeletons.
