Rasmussen: McLame beats both Hillary and Obama 46-40 in Ohio

McLame: 46
Hillary/Obama: 40

There are two seperate polls and both show McLame up by 6.

The detoriation of our party is beginning to show in the polls. It is very sad to see. We just spent 2 weeks campaigning in that state, we had a big-time media blitz in Ohio over the last month... and we are still losing that state. If that doesn't tell everybody that we need to end this process quick, I don't know what to tell you.

Just a reminder about Ohio: it is absolutely hurting from the economic policies enacted by President Bush and its Republican state legislature over the last 8 years. The fact that they still want to vote in a Republican tells you all you need to know about how badly the Democratic party has hurt itself over the last week or so.

1. But...but...it's a Big State. It's a "bellwether" state.
We better go with the Obama version of the Electoral map for a victory.

4. We are going to need to carry either Florida or Ohio.
Obama can't just ignore both of those states. And I didn't even mention the latest poll that shows McLame up by a few points in PA and MI.

There is no path that will lead any Democrat to the White House if we don't end this process soon. Whether it be Hillary or Obama's path to the White House.

15. I wasn't aware that Obama ignored OH, had no choice with FL
He will absolutely campaign in those two states extensively.

20. He's not ignoring them. He campaigned very hard in Ohio and still Hillary can't do better than he
as for Florida he followed DNC rules and still is. I think Ohio will be very competitive this fall for our candidates. BTW, California went to Hillary in the primary by about the same margin as Ohio and a new Ras poll out today has Obama leading McCain there by 15 points, while Hillary is ahead by only 7. Ohio is a swing state. In the primaries who has won more swing states? Obama. He won Colorado, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Virginia, and leads in those states while Hillary is losing. Even in Nevada Obama is leading in a state where Hillary won the caucus and Hillary is losing to MCCAIN. The blue states will go blue it's who wins the swing states.

2. It tells you that this country is still fundamentally conservative
and that the Democrats always need to play catch-up.

5. McSame has been getting a free ride so far
Current polls are meaningless because all the focus is off of McSame.

Polls will mean something after the nomination process is over.

What makes you think that will change in 2008?

We know who they are rooting for.

13. I have every confidence that you are correct in that prediction.
My only disagreement with you would be my expectation as to the number of voters who will buy the it again. It seems to me that the biggest motivating factor people have in order to start actually doing their own thinking is when their own ass is in the fire.

23. I hope so
It is starting to get on my nerves so I can only imagine what people who are only getting bits and pieces on tv are thinking. I am sure it is the last thing on their things to worry about, spats about pastors, etc. It only fuels the talking heads. I'd rather our candidates were making news talking about their economic plans. That might get some votes.

28. Most people I talk to seem to just ignore the nonsense.
They honestly don't have a clue until I tell them the what the latest drama is about.

Our candidates do talk about their economic plans, but the pundits would rather talk about the tabloid stuff. I don't know that they will even need to do much talking anyway... those that think bush & the GOP aren't to blame for the current economic mess will either sit on their hands or vote GOP... and those that think they are will vote for the other candidate. That's how I see it playing out, anyway.

Edited on Fri Mar-14-08 04:01 PM by rocknation
I think it's a little deceptive to poll this way since there's no question of who the Repub nominee is. Besides, there's 14% unaccounted for.

GET THEE BEYOND ME, POLL! UNCLEAN UNCLEAN!!!

10. Another one of "her"states where she doesn't make a damn bit of difference
Meantime, Barack outpolls her by a mile in places like NV, CO, VA, IA WA, and MN.

12. You are making a very good observation.
I thought a state like Ohio (or Florida) would show more seperation between Hillary and Obama. It doesn't. The only state that shows that type of seperation is Arkansas.

At the same time securing Kerry's (close) states.

Speaking of VA, I believe an Obama/Warner ticket should win it here.

IMO, he SHOULD NOT waste much time, energy and money going after Ohio (ex-Buckeye here, and terminally disappointed in my home state) or Florida.

17. I don't think he keeps that lead over either candidate
Once Darth McCain is focused on by our entire base, he's going to shrivel quickly.

I mean, he's over 9000 years old. No way can he keep up.

22. Rasmussen is a Rethug pollster.
If you look at the RCP summary: McCain beats Obama by 1.0, McCain beats Clinton by .03! Survey says Clinton beats McCain by 10+.http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/oh/ohio_mccain_vs_clinton-399.html

beat McCain (and everyone else)in these same polls when he was in the race. Dems are shooting themselves
in the foot, once again.

30. McCain? Is he running too? I haven't heard much
Seriously, this is bad news but fairly predictable for the circumstances. The dems dirty laundry has been paraded all over the media for weeks now, while the repugs are relaxing on a beach somewhere drinking martinis.

I wouldn't put too much weight on a poll for a contest that hasn't really begun yet.
