The Rev. Wright attack ad by GOP allies
Edited on Fri Mar-14-08 02:51 PM by quinnox
My god, it writes itself.

You have to be wearing Obama colored glasses if you don't think GOP right wing allies won't use Rev. Wright's video in an attack ad. Here is a possible way -

{scary dark music plays} {A stark background appears with words on it} {low manly voice speaks} - "Do you know who Barack Hussein Obama's spirtual advisor is? They have a relationship that goes back years, and Obama has said he was an inspiration to him"

Show clip of Rev. Wright shouting "God Damn America! 9/11 was the chickens coming home to roost!"

"With advisors like these, is this the man you want as our president?"

{A scary picture of Rev. Wright and Obama side by side as commercial ends}

This is like shooting fish in the barrel for the right wing.

This just keeps getting worse, what a train wreck this nomination process has become and will end up as.

2. Since the election is 8 months away... this will be OLD news and sufficiently handled by then....

That's why it is good it is coming out in March.

If the GOP does an ad like the one you describe in the fall... the effect it will have on people is this... "Oh.. I heard that already. No biggie."

An ad like that works only if it presents people with something they didn't know before.

21. That's Just Not True. It Will Go Away Till Then, But Then Come Back Uglier Than Ever.
They don't need to make that ad now. In fact, they won't. They'll make it when it matters, and will play it nonstop. Ads tying the pastor's words to Obama as if his own, combined with the flag pin incident, the hand on heart incident and his wife's comments incident, could be used to concoct one of the most powerful swiftboat campaigns we've seen yet.

I'm being quite serious here SD. It will run its course for now, but the RW knows full well how much they could use this to their advantage. The 527's WILL use this in the GE. They simply will. We better be prepared for that reality.

(Seriously. Think about it. Think about everything you know about the RW attack machine. You think for a second they WON'T use this in the GE, no matter how many months prior it originated? Shit, how many years before had the Kerry/Fonda shit been?)

29. Im agreeing here
Anyone I talk to doesn't give a crap about this or any other stupid thing one side or the other flings. What they care about, what I care about, is this crap economy, food prices, soaring gas prices...and on and on.

I noticed that whatever side people here are on, this hasn't changed their minds..nor will whatever shit gets slung next week, and the week after that, etc..

9. Hillary forced Obama to endorse bigotry for two decades? She runs Fox and ABC too?
Obama has only himself to blame. Either he is a coward who was afraid to stand up for his beliefs or he agreed with wright for two decades.

16. And you KNOW that how?
... and "Voting for Obama is voting for McCain"?

The only edge McCain has right now is the one Hillary gave him by telling voters that given his experience, McCain is more qualified for the presidency than Obama is.

Mother Jones
Hillary's Prayer: Hillary Clinton's Religion and Politics

snip...

When Clinton first came to Washington in 1993, one of her first steps was to join a Bible study group. For the next eight years, she regularly met with a Christian "cell" whose members included Susan Baker, wife of Bush consigliere James Baker; Joanne Kemp, wife of conservative icon Jack Kemp; Eileen Bakke, wife of Dennis Bakke, a leader in the anti-union Christian management movement; and Grace Nelson, the wife of Senator Bill Nelson, a conservative Florida Democrat.

Clinton's prayer group was part of the Fellowship (or "the Family"), a network of sex-segregated cells of political, business, and military leaders dedicated to "spiritual war" on behalf of Christ, many of them recruited at the Fellowship's only public event, the annual National Prayer Breakfast. (Aside from the breakfast, the group has "made a fetish of being invisible," former Republican Senator William Armstrong has said.) The Fellowship believes that the elite win power by the will of God, who uses them for his purposes. Its mission is to help the powerful understand their role in God's plan.

snip...

Coe's friends include former Attorney General John Ashcroft, Reaganite Edwin Meese III, and ultraconservative Rep. Joe Pitts (R-Pa.). Under Coe's guidance, Meese has hosted weekly prayer breakfasts for politicians, businesspeople, and diplomats, and Pitts rose from obscurity to head the House Values Action Team, an off-the-record network of religious right groups and members of Congress created by Tom DeLay. The corresponding Senate Values Action Team is guided by another Coe protégé, Brownback, who also claims to have recruited King Abdullah of Jordan into a regular study of Jesus' teachings.

The Fellowship's long-term goal is "a leadership led by God—leaders of all levels of society who direct projects as they are led by the spirit." According to the Fellowship's archives, the spirit has in the past led its members in Congress to increase U.S. support for the Duvalier regime in Haiti and the Park dictatorship in South Korea. The Fellowship's God-led men have also included General Suharto of Indonesia; Honduran general and death squad organizer Gustavo Alvarez Martinez; a Deutsche Bank official disgraced by financial ties to Hitler; and dictator Siad Barre of Somalia, plus a list of other generals and dictators. Clinton, says Schenck, has become a regular visitor to Coe's Arlington, Virginia, headquarters, a former convent where Coe provides members of Congress with sex-segregated housing and spiritual guidance.
