Another supporter of UN in, US out
If a hothead like Sadr will go for it, the Kucinich plan starts to look pretty realistic, no?

http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=story_20-4-2004_pg1_5

Sadr also indicated through his spokesman that he favoured the deployment of a UN peacekeeping force in Iraq “on condition that it be made up of Muslim countries or countries which did not join the occupation of Iraq such as Russia, France or Germany”.

1. Vindication!
Lessee, how many times now has Dennis been proven right, after weathering disdainful criticism?

The man has been around the block enough times to know a bit about how the world works.

Thanks so much for the article!

Kanary

3. I have to agree, Dennis is right and...
the UN is not going to help Bush. He needs to give it up and admit defeat before more die, including the Iraqi people. Get the heck out and let them handle it.

5. Seems to have said this before, too
http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/s1089933.htm

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Sadr has called for the sending of UN peacekeeping troops to Iraq and demanded the immediate withdrawal of US-led occupation forces.

"It is in the interest of the whole world to send peacekeeping forces under the UN flag," Qais al-Khazaali, who is spokesman for Sadr's Mehdi Army militia, said in an interview with Bulgarian television.

" the occupation forces must withdraw from the occupied regions and must release political prisoners. The war will thus end."

6. How long will they keep on NOT LISTENING TO HIM?????
DK's been right on this since last year, back when everybody else was talking about sending MORE US troops to "occupy" the country.

Now, the insurrection continues. The country is headed for disaster, and all our major party candidates can talk about is "winning" the war.

There is no "winner" in war. Both sides lose tremendously, whether they'll admit it or not. Thankfully we have elected officials like Dennis Kucinich who understand that, and are NOT AFRAID to stick to their principles and convictions, no matter what the polls and "focus groups" say.

STAND UP. KEEP FIGHTING!

7. Sadr also justifies Dean
Dean wanted the UN in and Arab and Muslim troops to do the day-to-day interface with Iraqis. Dean had planned on keeping US troops in Iraq to keep Al Queda from destabilizing Iraq.
