Poll question: Anybody Here De-Sensitized To GDP "Nastiness"?
Lately, it seems to me that when I see nasty thread titles, I'm not bothered as much.
Anybody else feeling like this?

2. Entertainment value
That is the only value I see in GD P these days. Can't even try to be positive anymore.

3. I've begun ignoring anyone who acts like a freep here.
That makes it all much less bothersome.

I recommend that strategy to anyone who is tired of it all.

4. Lisa, if you don't watch the violence
you'll never become desensitized to it.

5. no what has always pissed me off
is propaganda threads-the obvious and blatant campaign workers who set up shop here at DU and other blogs and boards either posting threads like we see here or quick on the defense in a blog with a thousand word whine fest of UNFAIR UNFAIR reply

6. At any given time
we can easily see in excess of 50% of the threads here being complete garbage. There are sometimes when things are fairly civil and constructive, but there are just as many times where there is just an insane storm of nonsense or vile hatred. I do not believe I was ever really sensitive to it in the first place. This is an anonymous forum, and people here have strong opinions. A great deal of those strong opinions are going to run counter to a significant portion of the people here. And with the mindset of many posters, attacks from one side simply fuel counter attacks, which fuel counter-counter attacks, which.....you get the drift. I really have no expectation of this forum being a model of civility. So long as I can come here and see a semblance of discourse and possibly even find genuine information here and there, this forum will continue to serve its purpose.

7. I think that some of Obama and Hillary supporters
forget that the real race is not between our two contenders but with McCain.

In their effort to smear the Dem opponent of their candidate, they hand ammunition to the Repubs.

At this point I am not for Obama or for Hillary. I am for the Dem nominee, whoever he/she is.

8. It's politics
We get so emotionally attached to our candidates, that it becomes a religion to us.

Things will change once this primary mess, while the party recoups its emotional lost and refocuses itself. I am not worried about this.

11. Every time there is a flare-up, it takes me a while to adapt
But I eventually learn to ignore the inflammatory threads or hide them altogether.

The couple of threads remiding us that we are acting like idiots also had the effect of calming me down a bit - it has to start somewhere.

12. Desensitization occurred spontaneously on March 4th, 2008
The day this election cycle ended.
Now it's all just pointless theater.

13. I got used to political shit-slinging in '68. This time it's just more boring than usual.
The present cast is less talented or creative than past campaigns.
