1. DC had a law banning the possession of handguns. It was overturned.

Basically, Washington, DC had a law banning the possession of handguns.

Seemed reasonable to me. I always felt that local jurisdictions ought to be able to regulate their sale and possession. What's good for a hunting community (I don't hunt) may not work in an urban area.

That to me is a pretty conservative view. Local regulations; local control. But the Second Amendment absolutists are foaming at the mouth at any regulation of firearms. They challenged the law, it was overturned, and now it's on appeal before the Supreme Court.

it was only on that one show and I was not sure why it was newsworthy. I thought I had missed something.
