All of this talk about bringing up race right now as if it were a bad thing.
I've been thinking about this a lot...I think it's actually the best thing that can happen for Barack Obama right now. Instead of the issue being able to gain traction by racist factions of the republican party in the lead-up to the general election, as a country, we will already be weary of discussing it.
Seriously...racism is a bad thing. I'm not condoning it by anyone. I'm just saying that I'm already starting to get serious race card/mysogyny fatigue....I can't even listen to people complain about "he said this/she said this". It's actually good for the candidates to raise these issues now...they won't be able to gain traction later.
Am I off base?
Again..this is not flame bait...I'm posting a serious thought that we will burn out on this issue before it can gain any traction in a general election.
ETA: I would even argue that Clinton and Obama slinging a little mud at each other now will 'desensitize' voters from some of it in the GE.....We will have heard it repeated so much in the MSM over the course of the next couple of months that by the time the repugs start getting it out there it won't stick.
