Obama/Boxer: An Excellent Ticket That Merits Consideration.
I have my dream ticket. The one that truly corresponds to my life-long progressive ideals and the one that would make me proudest to work for: Barack Obama and Barbara Boxer!

And it is the ticket that would both unify our party seamlessly by Summer and that would deliver a knock-out punch to the Republicans in November.

Here's why:

1.) Like Senator Obama, Senator Barbara Boxer bravely opposed the invasion of Iraq. Their "narrative" on the war (to use John Q. Citizen's term) remains perfectly intact. As Ted Kennedy said "Let no one deny that truth!"

2.) Senator Boxer helps end the silly speculation that Obama could not win "the big states". Well, with Boxer at his side, they landslide in California, New York and Illinois.

3.) As Boxer is also a Jewish woman, Obama/Boxer landslide in Florida.

4.) Barbara Boxer brings all the positives that Hillary would have on his ticket would, but without the anti-Clinton baggage. And Boxer is a seasoned politician who can handle Republican fire.

5.) Barbara Boxer has years of real experience on the national stage and with foreign affairs. Yes, even more real experience than Hillary Clinton.

You want a unity ticket for the base? Nothing could unify the base more than this ticket. Youth and Seniors, Women and Men, African-Americans, Labor Unions, Jewish Americans, Environmentalists and the GLBT community who have nothing less than great love and respect for Senator Boxer. Even our notorious "Hollywood Elite" (LOL!) would go simply bananas with joy.

And the anti-war coalitions? Well, there would be rejoicing from coast to coast that the Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates both openly opposed George W. Bush's war in Iraq.

We'd have the money. We'd have the passion. We would have the most charismatic ticket in modern times. And we'd have the American public looking with pride and wanting to join with us.

And we'd hand John McCain a resounding defeat in November.

Obama/Boxer.

That's the ticket!

I don't believe that Obama needs such bona fides, but I must admit that this perception is widespread. Personally, I love the idea of two (relative) doves on a ticket.

Probably not a good idea. More likely he needs a moderate Dem with some military experience or expertise. We sort of went this route with Kerry/Edwards and lost

We can make the sacrifice here in California for the good of our nation and the planet.

And she is a leader in the Senate on the Environment which I'm sure you know.

Can you imagine how enthusiastic Al Gore would be about this ticket. And it will futher draw away any defections to the Green Party.

55. We have to let Barbara go for the good of the nation and the planet.
I still remember planting two of her yellow and black yard signs in my front lawn way back when she first ran for Senate.

She has never let me down.

She is the real deal.

We must let her go.

But Obama will have to battle the voters in Jesustan who listen to Rush and watch FOX Noise and think Boxer is a "San Francisco liberal" because that's what their winger Masters tell them. A better choice might be Sen. Jim Webb or Gen. Anthony Zinni.

86. She has lots of credibility. She's a key member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
She's a leading voice on the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations with Joe Biden

Boxer has solid foreign policy credentials.

She wasn't fooled by the "evidence" that was provided to that Senate committee, either.

That's real credibility. Experience and judgment.

134. already started
Actually, after posting my somewhat snarky response yesterday I talked about this very ticket at the dinner table.

My parents and siblings tend to take their political cues from me and I think that my sister's bf is just too intimidated to disagree with me, and they all ended up voting for Obama on Super Tuesday.

On the topic of Boxer, though, there was genuine disagreement.

My mom is a teacher and here in California that means she is a sworn enemy of Arnold. Her principal just came back from a trip to Sacramento during which she was told by our esteemed lawmakers that the school districts have brought the upcoming budget cuts on themselves through laziness and ineptitude. Mind you, my mom works for one of the best public school districts in SoCal. Anyway, my point is that my mom is completely against any move that will give Arnold any more power or discretion.

She likes Boxer just fine, but won't hand anything to Arnold even in then interest of the country. Such is the intense passion of people who act on just a few issues.

On February 19, 2007, Boxer announced that she will seek a fourth term in 2010. "You can't wait until the last minute", she said. She estimates that she will need $20 million for the campaign. The announcement was made at a fundraiser hosted by her Senate colleague, Barack Obama.
