A brokered convention would be a tragedy for the party.
If neither Obama or Hillary gets the nom, it will be devastating.

I was an Edwards supporter after I finally gave up all hope of seeing Gore get in.

At this point, however, I wouldn't want to see the party bigshots give the nom to Gore, Edwards, or anyone else who didn't slog through the primaries. I think that would be a terrible mistake. Even though I'm not a big fan of either of the remaining candidates (I'm a lukewarm Obama supporter these days), I think any outcome other than the one chosen by the majority of ordinary voters would be a disaster for the Democrats and for democracy. A lot of people are fired up by one or another of the two, and if their votes turn out to be meaningless in the end, I could imagine large numbers of them staying home and saying the Hell with it.

I'm particularly concerned about young voters, whose entire politically aware lives have been spent in the Bush years. I'm afraid that many of them lack the perspective to know how abnormal these times are, and how desperately we need to bring an end to Imperial Republican rule. If they were to see the crown stripped from the apparent popular winner and given to someone who didn't earn it on the campaign trail, I could imagine widespread demoralization.

2. The last time a Democrat who came from a brokered primary and won
was in 1932. I think that worked out well for us, giving us the best president (IMO) in our history.

3. Probably the only way out of this is a brokered convention
I don't see anyone being satisfied with the other person's candidate. Too much has gone over the bridge, so to speak. There are very bad feelings on both sides. Instead of sticking to issues, both candidates let their supporters get personal. I can guarantee you that neither Obama or Clinton thinks that it is personal. They are politicians, to them it is a job. To me, it is personal, which is why I can't support either of them. For only about 10 to 20% in this country will it make any difference, who or what party has the Presidency. The rest of us will suffer, as we always have, whether dem or repub in the White House. That is the simple fact. Neither of the dems left have any idea what it is like to go to bed hungry or cold, just like a man doesn't understand what it's like to be a woman, or a white person on what it's like to be black.

Neither of the 2 remaining dem candidates will have a chance in the GE, there is now too much hate going on.

6. Yeah, if The One hadn't had opposition, He could probably have maded it
to the magic 2025.

People are so thoughtless and cruel.

Thanks a lot all you Democrats who didn't vote for The One. Just because you are in the majority, doesn't give you the right to impede his royal progress to the throne.
