Less than a year ago the Carlyle Group named David Marchick Global head of Regulatory Affairs for Carlyle saying that his new position will provide government affairs, regulatory and strategic advice.

Mr. Marchick worked on Bill Clinton’s 1992 campaign and served in four departments – the White House, USTR and Departments of State and Commerce – over seven years in the Clinton Administration. Among other positions, he served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and while at the White House, helped coordinate the Administration’s efforts to secure passage of NAFTA and the creation of the World Trade Organization.

Yes, Hillary Clinton is getting continued financial support from the man who co-ordinated the Clinton administration's successful efforts to pass NAFTA.

6. Bill also privatized the Investigations department of OPM in 1996

which handles the background and suitability investigations for anyone and everyone with a government security clearance (secret, top secret, sci.....). The Carlyle Group bought controlling interest of that new private company/former government agency USIS in 1999. Carlyle sold controlling interest in USIS in May 2007 to a 'step-sister' of Carlyle.

From 1999 to 2007 (and beyond) Carlyle had access and control to all information regarding individuals with the highest levels of security clearances throughout the military, government, and private sectors.

Mercado was in talks to work for Obama in the fall, but was never actually hired, after reports about his work as a lobbyist . But he's been active in the campaign, reportedly traveling to Nevada for Obama.

12. Why did the war profiteers get into the mortage stuff?

My first guess is that they forsaw this meltdown and wanted to be first in line for a huge taxpayer bailout that is sure to come.

Until we get a handle on their profitability, they will continue to exercise economic tyrrany over us.

My guess is that a half a dozen or so tactical nukes dropped on Iran would also make all their financial woes disappear.
