Obama re Spitzer: Past Clinton sex scandals should not be issue for voters now
Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama today expressed sympathy for disgraced New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, who resigned yesterday in the midst of a prostitution scandal.

Watch the VIDEO HERE.

"Obviously it’s a tragedy," Obama said. "It's heartbreaking for the family, but I suspect that it would not have been possible to function as governor."

Pressed by reporters, Obama suggested the various sex scandals of the Clinton years should not be an issue for voters now.

"Sen. Clinton should be judged on her own merits," he said.

"People can actually draw maybe better conclusions from how our respective campaigns have been run where both I'm in charge of my campaign and she is in charge of hers," he said.

I couldn't get the video to work, but here is the link:

1. Was he asked about the sex scandals, or did he bring the subject up himself? Because if he did, then
he did so to get the press talking about it again.

17. I think he's hoping Hillary will say something similar about the Wright fiasco.
He's only positive when it serves him.

20. He can't say anything to satisfy the Hillary militants
Here he was "asked" and took the high road, he didn't say "I'll take her at her word", he didn't ignroe it, he simply put it to rest and did the right thing. You fucking people amaze me sometimes.

about Wright or anything else about Obama.

24. If we're going to do dueling pastors, lets talk about Hillary's bible
club and their millennarian bullshit and the rest. She consorts with religious idiots too.

As opposed to, say, "He's not a Muslim TO MY KNOWLEDGE."

25. I saw the video. And it wasn't taken out of context.
Intentionally or not, she very clearly hesitated and hedged in her response, making it far from unqualified. And knowing the rest of her campaign, I suspect it was intentional.

16. Yes because he could of reminded people of all kinds
of sex scandals and we all know how Americans love a good sex scandal even the rehashed ones. Some of these Hillary supporters crack me up with the grasping of straws. Oh Rev wright, he is soo offensive, now Fearro well she is just a strong woman speaking her mine. Obama is probably not even thinking about Rev Wright but I bet Hillary is thinking about Fearro and I bet she is being reminded of it. I also bet Hillary is trying to figure out some way to keep those tax returns from being brought up in the media. Geesh, so much sour grapes over this Fearro thing. It would be funny if it wasn't so damn sad.

You've got nothing but cheap shots about a non-story with absolutely no evidence of wrongdoing by Obama at all.

26. I did not see anything about Bill's sex scandals in that
That could be what the reporter meant, but I didn't pick up on that. I interpreted the question to mean would Clinton be hurt by this because Spitzer was a friend and an endorser...didn't even think of the Bill angle. But that makes more sense now.
