I think the words "God Bless America" taste bitter when you're born with some genetic quality that automatically puts you at a disadvantage with the majority of the populace, simply because humans like to abuse their gift of sight. I think the words taste putrid to anyone pigeonholed into some racial lower echelon where no matter how adept or clever or gifted, you're always less and pushed around more.

I think you have white privilege and you have no idea how bitter those words can be. How bitter all those patriotic songs can be:

But let's face facts, most Americans see nothing wrong with the past policies of the US, because they don't get to see the results of the bad policies on the evening news.

What if during the overthrow of Allende the American public got to see civilians being torturted and murdered, for nothing more then believing in something different?

How about educating the American public that without US support Saddam Hussein would not have been able to gas the Kurds, or show them how the Shah's secret police SAVAK, actually dealt with any who dissented!

Maybe we could educate the American public about how things under Bautista weren't all warm and fuzzy and then compare his government to Castro's, to see where they were similar and where they were different?

I don't wish harm or evil upon my country, that's already been done by intentional ignorance on the part of some of my countrymen.

What I do wish for is that people educate themselves on those policies that have resulted in the deaths of thousands, and sk themselves if those lives were thrown away needlessly.
