I am tired.
Tired of the constant: The party cannot possibly survive any more campaigning by either side so Senator X should step down!

Tired of the constant: A brokered convention will hurt the party!

Tired of the constant: the party is imploding!

Tired of the constant: If we do not have a candidate NOW we will lose in November!

Tired of the constant whining, bitching and moaning that the Democratic Party has not settled on a candidate.

Good God people, take a break, breath, step away from the DU and then remember some key facts:

The Democratic Party has been around since 1792 by some historians and 1832 by others. One little election (as important as it may seem...and some of us can remember all of four years ago when everyone was claiming THAT was the most important election ever...) is NOT going to destroy the Democratic Party. The absolute WORST outcome that could happen is we somehow lose the Presidency in November we are still poised to pick up seats in BOTH Chambers (with a pick up already in Il-14) so no matter how stupid Senator McCain is the chances of the deadlock continue are great.

The Media LOVES, ADORES, WORSHIPS horse races. By having our contest stretch out, focus is on the Ds (bringing the brand out for people to see more of) while the primary process plays out. That means that the Ds are way more in the public eye than the Rs are.

The Rs STILL do not know for sure (it looks likely that one might pull it off but what about this factor or that factor) who will win the nomination so have to keep working against two candidates instead of one while THEIR fundraising is dropping and the Ds fundraising is rising and staying high. (And the R's candidate has to deal with the Ds have total knowledge of Senator McCain's nomination to use this time to throw things at him.)

Senator McCain is not getting much attention. Why? Because who cares about some old white guy when you have Senator Obama the Eloquent...Senator Clinton the Stalwart or whatever the hell you want to term either of them. BOTH of whom are history making candidates and McCain is just the same old thing as from 1980.

Basically I am saying...Stop acting like Chicken Little and focus for a while on the positives.

Of course no one is going to listen to me but I wanted to rant a bit.

2. The media pressed really hard to end the election dispute in 2000.
They always press really hard when there is a delay in a space shuttle launch too. As if they were losing money becuase of the delay or something.

3. You know, I could see that but they seem to be happy that there is
this race still going.

Gives them something to blather on about.

With Gore they just wanted him to drop dead.

easiest to take the position to get it over with & move on to the next attention grabber. The basic feeling of impatience and attention span of a 5 year old child.

9. President Clinton got 5 minutes. President Bush got 5 years.
And my Republican colleagues have the NERVE to tell me that the media treats Republicans like crap all the time.

11. 9/11 & the Iraq war awarded him a lot of "credits".
Popular wartime president & all that. Clinton spent his whole life succeeding in spite of the press & just about everything else.

15. Good post, but still...
it is highly annoying to think that the repugs are probably relaxing on a beach somewhere having martinis, while we are sleepless for months straight, tooth and nail and sweating bullets over our outcome!

16. I like it though...means Democracy is still happening.
People feel ENGAGED. And while some love Senators Obama and Clinton to death...the rest of us are happy that we can have so many engaged in this race people.

It really is extraordinary and wonderful.

17. Agreed, I only hope the Dem turnouts continue through the GE
in which case, the political definition of "landslide" will have a new textbook example.
