I am a woman (part of HRC's large block of supporters) I'm NOT supporting HRC
I am ashamed of my peers.

I used to be a HRC fan, back in the 90's, Incensed at what was being said about the Clinton's stirred me to my very soul. I became more and more activated and vocal about the "raw deal" that the Clintons were handed in the 90's. The 2000's have been a nightmare. During which I have seen things that really disturb me to the point wanting to become one of the "silent majority".

So many Dems voting for the IWR, (including HRC and her excuse about being persuaded by Bush and the threat of WMD really is a hoot considering that HRC was IN the WH w/access to 8 years of information about Saddam. For her to be fooled by Bush when I, who wasn't in the WH and wasn't privy to all of the info and people that she had access to IS PATHETIC) Her subsequent votes and stances were very hawkish and she really never admitted that going into Iraq was a horrible mistake until YEARS after we were in, and it was quite obvious to anyone with an IQ over 100, that there was a horrible horrible decision made.) following up with her hawkish votes on Iran and her missteps on the Bankruptcy Bill.... Sure everybody makes errors, but combine those errors with THE MEDIA telling all of us that HRC would most certainly win the DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION 2 years BEFORE HRC even committed to running set off my alarm bells. Why would the media do that when they say, that in politics things can change overnight? Why did practically ALL of the pundits say this over and over again for 2 years????? What did they know that we did not? Where was their information coming from? Before 1 Primary was run, before HRC announced her candidacy, the media had her running and winning the Democratic Nomination for President? Since, when the fuck does my vote count with that being rammed down your throat for years?????? Were they trying to get us all USED to the idea? Much like Bush sold us Iraq? Were the powers that be driving this news story to get us all over sticker shock?????? I mean haven't the American People accepted all kinds of atrocities since Bush got in office?????? We are all on valium (maybe in the water) by taking all of the horrible things that we have taken and not been rioting in the streets. They know how to get us to "accept" things that we ordinarily would never have accepted a couple of decades ago.

Then there is Bill's new buddy Poppy BUSH, golfing together, doing humanitarian things together, sitting together at wakes and I ask, where is Jimmy Carter? Isn't Jimmy Carter a DEMOCRAT? Don't we get crucified on this board and sometimes thrown off for "appearing" to promote or accept Republicans? BUT when Clinton somehow strikes up a new friendship w/ Poppy....not Jimmy Carter, we all say - "isn't that nice"?????? WHILE his son is responsible for taking us to war on false pretenses, destroying our economy, taking away our rights......

Of course HRC's own behavior since the threat of Obama started becoming serious and started really threatening her chances to actually waltz into candidacy for the WH has really pushed me FIRMLY over the edge. I don't care that she could be the 1st woman in History to become POTUS. She would be an EMBARRASSMENT to my sex and is an embarrassment to my sex, WHY????, because I thought that we would be better than that. I thought we that we were as capable if not more so than any man to be POTUS. HRC has changed me from being a supporter and admirer in the 90's to being embarrassed and angry with her in 2008', no small task, believe me this is one change of mind that I didn't want to have but....Bush and Clinton, Clinton and Bush - come on, I didn't just fall off of a turnip truck, I wonder though, why did so many of my peers?

came to see the way forward just recently, having no preference before this but Edwards. Obama is the choice for me when he said he would overturn the hundreds and hundreds of signing orders and the tax credits to the rich. He's my man.

You may have seen The Wire on HBO. The vacant rowhouses, dope boys. Well it's like that where I live. I drive past a utility pole every day where the Teddy Bears & deflated mylar balloons serve as a shrine where a young African American male, one of many, was gunned down a year ago.

I'm sorry white women, but our straits are just not that dire.

I was originally for Edwards, then wasn't sure which remaining candidate to support.

Researched their plans, very similar.

It wasn't until Hillary started her smear and fear campaign that I decided on Barack Obama.

I also do not have high hopes in Hillary's cleaning abilities, I don't want her to clean up after Bush. We saw how Billbo cleaned up after the first Bush, swept everything under the oval office rug. I fear she would do the same.

Barack has said that he WANTS transparency within our government.

I'm hoping to be a delegate from Texas. Wish me luck:pals:

On edit: My MIL and SIL are also supporting Barack.

We have 2 voting age daughters for Obama and 2 voting age sons (one a veteran) for Obama. That make six of us. Our older two grandchildren are Obama supporters, too.

I have been paying attention and so have they.

Thanks for your OP!

73. I was a woman for Edwards..
and went thru a protracted grieving period when he 'suspended.'

Where to go? Hillary almost had me at that debate where she said
she was proud to be on the stage with Barak,
where she made the comment that no matter who got the nomination
she was going to be fine, that she had support, that she
loved her country, etc etc, and the whole place gave her a
standing ovation. I was breathless! What a moment!
I would love a president with that perspective! Wow!

But the next day on the campaign trail, she railed out with:
"Shame on your BArak Obama!"
And I turned away. What happened to the magnanimous open heart?

I can't stand the tone of this conversation.
I can't go forward with four to eight years of these
nasty accusations and devisiveness.

Now the press leading the talking points of a racial
and gender divide. This makes me sick.

My support is for Obama, because we need healing not fighting.

And I resent the fact that the press pushes the Obama
campaign to fight Hillary back, but when he does,
they blame him for not being presidential.

We are eating each other alive.

And today, IN PA, Clinton supporters are nastily
attacking Obama supporters as traitors!

79. 55 and F For Obama Here!
...I think it would be lovely to have a woman be president. Just. Not. That. Woman.

I am an activist and have been for years for low income people. Hillary Clinton applauded Welfare DEFormed which has plunged millions of women into permanent poverty. It used to be that these women used welfare so they could go to school. No more. Even getting an GED is a major fight and the *only* "success" is getting a job, any job, it does not even matter if that job pays a livable wage. Many areas in this country do not have childcare, no transportation nor is the economy doing very well, but "Too bad, so sad, put your kid in your car outside the window while you work, and we will arrest you for bad mothering if it comes to our attention. GED? You don't need that! Why McDonalds can hardly wait to hire you! What? It does not even pay enough for your rent money? Too bad, perhaps you can live in your car ..."

This says a lot to me as to what women are worth to Hillary Clinton. This is what HRC thinks is great for families struggling in poverty. If she feels this way for these women , just keep in mind, the Welfare DEFormed is a law, it does not just apply to a certain group of women, it says, all parenting is "doing nothing."

I have not heard a word from her that this was a mistake.

Nope, she went around with Joe LIEberman cheering about how wonderful it is.

To me, if you treat women in this way, you are *not* no stinkin' feminist! Most poverty in this country is the burden of women. As a matter of fact, most poverty around the world is with women.

She is no feminist ~ unless it is for the elite women like her, forget any other woman.

Her election would not bode well for women in this country from her past behavior ~ unless you are Paris Hilton. Her stance with Welfare DEFormed should tell ALL Americans the way she feels about anyone who is not of her economic class.

My 2 cents

eek, that was painful to put in print. I'm from PA and will be fighting for Obama. Someone said to me the other day, but she's a woman you have to vote for her! I said if Condi was running, would I have to vote for her because she's a woman? Remember the feminist movement? Women can think for themselves, thank God.

100. Another keyboard confessional from a supposed "former clinton" supporter. I'm certainly more
than suspicious when every day there's a post sharing some life changing moment when a democrat had an epiphany and decided Hillary was not their candidate due to her horrific campaign.

I'm very proud of Hillary's ability to rally her campaign afer early mismanagement, tirelessly canvas for votes, speak intelligently and meaningfully about issues, fend off incessant attacks and withstand withering press coverage.

And how about that great wardrobe? Yeah, she has a pretty kickass campaign closet and I'm digging it. I hope I have that much style, poise, intelligence and depth of response in my life. I look up to Hillary.

Are you proud of her ability to let her advisors do the same things to win a campiagn that she condemmed Bush for in 2000 and 2004?

Personally I think she should bring the long hair and the headbands back from the Monica days. That would be great! :sarcasm:

55 years old - live in a red rural poor county - at last night Democratic County mtg - Obama had the support of about 1/2 the people - most were woman - he won't win my county but he will get support
even many Hillary supporters are not happy about how she is running her campaign
we've got time in PA to make people understand their differences and to see the possibilities of an Obama Presidency.
